KEY DIFFERENCES BETWEEN E-COMMERCE AND E-BUSINESS

Online shopping has become quite popular in the last few years. Earlier, people use to walk to the store for buying things but now they get whatever they want from the comfort of their home. You can shop from any part of the world, for that you will just need a smartphone and internet. The shopping has become simple just because of the two popular networks i.e. E-commerce and E-business. There are people who think that e-commerce and e-business are the same. They are closely related to each other but not the same. Let’s discuss both of them in detail.

MEANING OF E-COMMERCE

E-commerce or Electronic Commerce is defined as the process of selling and buying goods or services via internet. In e-commerce, the buyer and the seller don’t have to meet each other physically for the trading process.

TYPES OF E-COMMERCE

There are various types of E-commerce:

1. Business to Consumer (B2C)

In B2C E-commerce the business sells goods or services to an individual customer. This type of e-commerce is more effective and easier to do. As the internet is evolving the B2C is also developing and as a result, you can find various online stores on the internet. The e-commerce sells all kinds of products, from clothes, books, electronics items to music, movies or e-books. People enjoy doing online shopping because there they get great discounts and varieties.

2. Business to Business (B2B)

In B2B, one business sells goods or services to another business. In other words, B2B is all kinds of electronic transactions between two businesses or companies. For instance, an online business selling its video services to other businesses so that it can use it in its marketing campaigns.

3. Consumer to Consumer (C2C)

In C2C e-commerce, one consumer sells goods or services to other consumers. For instance, an individual selling his/her personal vintage journals through any online platform.

4. Consumer to Business (C2B)

In C2B e-commerce, one consumer sells goods or services to the business. For instance, an online influencer asking a fee to promote any business among the audience.

MEANING OF E-BUSINESS

E-business is the process of facilitating your business with the help of the internet and online technology. E-business is not completely managed online but rather uses the power of the internet to increase the business that also works offline. E-business uses the internet, web, extranet and intranet to conduct businesses.

TYPES OF E-BUSINESS

There are two types of E-business:

1. Pure Play

In this type of e-business, all the efforts and assets are invested in one line of business. This type of business focuses on one particular product or service. For instance, a business that only sells cricket bats would be considered a pure play business.

2. Bricks and Clicks

It is the type of business that operates both online and offline. Having both offline store and online website comes under Bricks and Clicks. For example, an offline store that sells clothing but also allows its customers to place orders online.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN E-COMMERCE AND E-BUSINESS

1. E-commerce is referred as the buying and selling of goods or services on the internet. On the other hand, all the business activities conducted through the internet are termed as e-business.
