JEE Main 2016 Rank List will be declared by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education), the exam governing body of Joint Entrance Examination Main 2016. The exam was held on 3, 9, and 10 April 2016 and the date of issue of rank list has been set as 30 June 2016. The board will release rank list in online mode only on the official website of the examination. On 27 April 2016, the board declared scorecard of the candidates. Features Of JEE Main 2016 Rank List

  • Rank list will be declared separately for each category of the candidates thus, there shall be multiple merit lists.
  • Merit list will declare rank of the candidate on the basis of marks obtained by him in the JEE Main 2016 Result.
  • Rank will be allotted after normalization method. It will take marks of JEE Main 2016 and class XII in 60:40.
  • There shall be four different ranks – all India rank, all India categorical rank, state rank, and state categorical rank.
  • Allotment in the participating institutes such as CFTIs, SFTIs, IIITs, and NITs will use only AIR for allotment.
  • The last two ranks displayed in Rank List of JEE Main 2016 will be used by only state counselling committee.


How to Check JEE Main 2016 Rank List?

To check the JEE Main 2016 Rank List and hence, position in the same, candidate must access the official website of the exam. Then, he must click the link corresponding to the rank list. Now, candidate has to enter roll number, application number, and other asked details correctly in the fields. The entered details must be checked to eliminate any error in typing. Now, the submit button must be pressed. Rank will now be displayed on the screen from where it can be printed on A4 sheet. The printout must be kept safe for future reference and guidance in choosing colleges for counselling.

Resolution Of Tie In JEE Main 2016 Rank List

If two or more candidates score equal marks in the result, a tie breaker mechanism will be applied to resolve the rank conflict. It will consider the following factors to decide rank of the candidate:

  • Marks obtained in math section in JEE Main 2016 – candidate with higher marks will be given lower rank.
  • Marks obtained in physics section in JEE Main 2016 – candidate with higher marks will be given lower rank.
  • Higher normalized score in JEE Main 2016 – normalized score by taking marks of JEE Main 2016 and class XII.
  • Comparison of negative responses – candidate with lower number of negative responses will be given lower rank.
