JEE Main 2014 Result is very essential for all students who want to become engineers in future. JEE Main is their entry point to all top engineering institutes such as IIITs, NITs and CFTIs. Successful and top rankers of JEE Main 2014 are eligible to take JEE Advanced 2014. Candidates may check Result of JEE Main 2014 by clicking on the link below:

JEE Main 2014 was conducted by the official authority from April 6, 2014 to April 19, 2014. The official authority – Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) – has published an answer key of JEE Main 2014 also. It can be accessed by the students to have an advanced idea of their score. It would also help them bring any discrepancies in the result.

The Joint Entrance Examination is the largest entrance exam for aspiring engineers in India. Nearly 13 lakh candidates take the exam. Those who clear are selected for the most prestigious engineering colleges and institutes of the country. The exam is conducted at two levels: JEE Main and JEE Advanced. All students who apply for JEE Main are eligible to apply for JEE Advanced too. The toppers of JEE Main 2014 up to the rank of  about 1.5 lakh are generally eligible to take JEE Advanced on the condition that they fulfil all other eligibility conditions also. JEE Advanced is for admission into IITs.

For admission to different colleges and undergraduate engineering courses, two scores are combined to calculate an All India Rank (AIR). The AIR is based on a candidate’s JEE Main 2014 score (with a weightage of 60%) and his/her normalized score of Class XII or equivalent exam (with a weightage of 40%).

The JEE Main 2014 is conducted in both offline (paper–pencil) and online (computer-based) modes. The syllabus for the exam is the same as the syllabus of Class XI and XII for three subjects – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The exam is conducted for a duration of three (3) hours. There is negative marking in the exam. For every right answer 1 mark is given, and for every wrong answer one-fourth marks are cut. Thus, there is 25% penalty on every wrong answer. A total of 90 questions are asked, 30 each from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Questions are multiple-choice or objective-type, where only one of the given options is correct.

Admissions are based on reservation to certain categories also. For example, 27% seats are reserved for OBC candidates, 15% for SC candidates, 7.5% for ST candidates and 3% for persons with disability (PwD). Cutoff marks for different categories are also different. Candidates may analyse previous year’s cutoff, counselling pattern and admissions to get an idea about the current year’s admissions.

Right after the result, candidates are interested in knowing their branches in which they are eligible to get admission. For this, they may use the link ‘JEE Main 2014 Branch Predictor’ given below. This information would be immensely helpful to candidates during their counselling sessions.
