Taking a look at where the Washington Redskins rookies stand entering the first preseason game. They drafted 10 players in the spring, but already lost one when Indianapolis claimed sixth-round pick, cornerback Tevin Mitchel, off waivers after his injury. OL Brandon Scherff: He will start at right guard in the Joe Carter Jerseypreseason opener vs. Cleveland after working at right tackle earlier in camp. Has shown strength, but needs to work on speeding up his hands and not letting rushers into his chest. He's better in the run game right now. Projection: Starter. LB Preston Smith: It looks like he’s still thinking too much when he rushes and figuring out what moves might or might not work. His size and length are impressive, but he hasn’t made any "wow" plays in practice. But he’s big at 270 pounds. That, plus his length and hands, provide the Redskins hope for his future. Projection: Fourth outside linebacker. RB Matt Jones: He likes to lower his shoulder at the end of runs, which is a good thing. Alfred Morris runs more fluidly, http://www.officialbluejaysstore.com/authentic-19-jose-bautista-jersey.htmlbut Jones will get opportunities. A key for Jones also will be his pass protection skills. That will determine if he can handle a third-down role yet or not. Projection: Backup. WR Jamison Crowder: He has a legitimate shot at taking over for Andre Roberts in the slot, especially if the veteran is not more productive. Crowder has a lot of sizzle to his game because of his quickness. He’s small, but uses quick moves (some that worked for him in basketball) to get free. He also snatches the ball as quick as anyone, allowing him to cut faster. But he won’t play tonight because of a hamstring injury. Projection: For now, http://www.officialbluejaysstore.com/authentic-7-jose-reyes-jersey.htmlI’ll say backup slot, because you have to do it in more than practice. OG Arie Kouandjio: He has good strength and can anchor, and at times has done OK against some veterans in one-on-one drills. He has worked mostly at left guard, but played a little right guard as well. Pass protection was a bigger issue in college. Projection: Backup. LB Martrell Spaight: It can be tough to accurately gauge the linebackers thus far, but Spaight is a thumper -- he likes to hit the hole with some gusto. Jayson Werth JerseyThe question for him will be can he play sideline to sideline? That will be a test for him in the preseason. Projection: Backup. S Kyshoen Jarrett: Not a big guy, but he is a tough player. The Redskins are trying to determine if he can help them in the slot, and though that won’t be a primary spot for him, it can increase his versatility and make him easier to keep. Players with his mindset are always good to have. Projection: Fifth http://www.officialnationalsshop.com/authentic-27-jordan-zimmermann-jersey.htmlsafety. WR Evan Spencer: His hands need to be more consistent. He runs good routes, but he’s dropped a few passes, which never helps. But his value will come on special teams for now, and in camp it’s impossible to tell who's doing what in that area. They never go live in those drills. Worth developing. Projection: Sixth receiver. C Austin Reiter: He has worked as the third-team center most of camp, and that’s about where he belongs. Could use a little more size. Projection: Practice squad.
