Jack Dorsey; Indeed The Jack of All Trades

The decision is finally out. The micro-blogging website’s board has, at last, accepted the fact that Jack Dorsey was the best candidate for the position and has named him as the permanent chief executive officer of Twitter, Inc.

On Monday, the social media network announced that interim CEO Dorsey has officially been given the permanent position. The board of the company had been in this dilemma since June 2015, right after Dick Costolo; the former CEO of Twitter stepped down from his position, making Dorsey the interim lead of the social media website. He is currently the fourth CEO of the social media site.

The move was announced by the micro-blogging company in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. In the filing, the board had stated that Jack will be continuing as the permanent lead of the company that he has held since October 2008.

The 38 year old executive of the social media company’s work has now officially doubled as he is presently also leading another company, Square which is a startup payment solutions firm that he has planned to make public by the end of the year. The new CEO had founded the payment solutions company in 2009.

The former executive, Dick Costolo served the company for over five years who stepped down on July 1, 2015 but during his tenure, Twitter did not do as well as it did in the past four months that Dorsey had been the temporary lead. During Dorsey’s interim term, the company launched the “buy” option in tweets for millions of its merchants.

In the second quarter, the social media site had over 315 million daily users so now the new executives function will be to ensure that the number of active monthly users increase and the user engagement on the website rises as well and further he will be needed to improve the advertising products of the website.

Dorsey’s vision was to make the website easier to use for the newcomers as the sole problem due to which user engagement was so low of the website was that the site was difficult to use. The public wants to be able to put videos on their twitter accounts which the company has been slow to enforce. Its live streaming app Periscope has gained a lot of popularity all around the global. The previous CEO who has served the company since 2010 had failed to reach up to the Wall Street’s expectations of the company

Another candidate for the executive position was Adam Brian, who was Twitter, Inc.’s President of global revenue and partnership, now he has been given the position of Chief Operation Officer. Twitter is quite popular amongst the celebrities and politicians all around the global as it is the first place where they post their videos and news. The perception that people have for the social media network is that it is partially useless, according to general public, unless they are following the right and relevant people. Other than that if users don’t have relevant people to follow they will likely not put in a lot of time to set up a profile.
