Tech support scams have suddenly starting plaguing Americans, with 3 million people in the U.S. falling prey to such malicious rip-offs and causing a loss of more than $1 billion a year. There are hundreds of companies ( Small and big companies) engaged into the business of Tech support in India,which seems to be the easy way of doing business with high return in terms of revenue. Not to be surprised if you just own 5 computers in a business center with good net connectivity , you can easily earn upto Rs. 5 lakh a month.

The latest scam to have come to light is the iYogi scam where the company and its president Vishal Dhar, an Indian-American entrepreneur have been alleged. The violators have been named in a lawsuit for ‘running a scam operation that uses deception and scare tactics to coerce consumers into buying unnecessary tech support services’, which is a sheer violation of Washington’s Computer Spyware Act. The lawsuit is filed in King County Superior Court in Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson against the US operations of iYogi. Ferguson identifies hundreds if not thousands of Washington residents to have been scammed by iYogi.
