What is kidney failure?
Ayurvedic remedies have been evolving ever since we can remember, however, with the advent of modern medicine, we had completely forgotten about Ayurveda. Today, Ayurvedic medicines are doing more good than one could have hoped for. They have been incorporated into the wellness regime in the west.
The roots of Ayurveda lie in the Indian subcontinent. It is said that the knowledge was passed on from the gods to the gurus to the practitioners. Earlier, it was the only form of treatment available in the Indian subcontinent. Surgical procedures and Ayurvedic medicines have been a part of Ayurveda for a very long time now. Some practitioners have adopted these practices and have developed new formulas to treat multiple diseases.
Why does kidney failure occur?
There are a number of diseases that can lead to the development of a condition in the kidneys which is irreversible. Sometimes it can lead to death. Often the symptoms of kidney diseases go unnoticed. Many symptoms of such diseases are-

  • A feeling of fullness in the abdomen
  • Swelling in the arms and legs
  • Bloating
  • Loss of appetite
  • Blood in urine
  • Frequent urinary tract infections
  • Bladder and kidney infections
  • Puffiness around the eyes
  • Foamy or frothy urine

These symptoms can often indicate a kidney condition. The two major causes of kidney diseases are- hypertension, which is often called high blood pressure and diabetes.

Both these conditions silently affect the kidneys and can lead to the development of many diseases, even kidney failure. Hypertension causes the kidneys to increase their function and produce urine to remove excess sodium in the body. Diabetes ends up affecting kidneys and is called kidney diabetes. Kidney diabetes damages the glomeruli and affects filtration.
Kidney failure is also called End Stage Renal Disease. Kidney failure can occur due to all of the above-mentioned causes and also because of some diseases which are left untreated. A few of these diseases have been discussed in detail.

  • Chronic kidney disease- CKD is a condition when the kidneys lose 80 percent of their efficiency and are in dire need of a kidney transplant.
  • Lupus- this condition is common and cannot be cured. Lupus can affect tissues and organs and lead the autoimmune system to attack the kidneys thereby damaging them.
  • IgA nephropathy- The IgA protein collects on the kidney tissue leading to severe damage to the kidneys.
  • Loss of blood- severe loss of blood can stop the blood from reaching the kidneys. In the absence of the blood, the kidneys lose their efficiency and can lose their function entirely.
  • Multiple myeloma- cancer of the cells in the bone marrow can result in kidney damage.

Karma Ayurveda is an Ayurvedic firm. Established in 1937, this organization aims at providing natural relief to many kidney diseases. Doctor Puneet Dhawan, the co-founder of Karma Ayurveda and also a kidney specialist provides this alternative form of treatment in exchange for dialysis and kidney transplant.
A kidney transplant is not only an expensive procedure but also causes various complications in the body. It is not easily available either because finding a kidney donor is difficult. Dialysis is another form of purification of blood which the kidneys cannot perform naturally. Therefore, the blood is artificially cleaned and passed into the blood vessels into the body. Both these treatments come with side effects and are extremely painful. Ayurvedic medicines are an effective cure for these expensive treatments.
