iPhone 7 Secrets Unveiled – Rumors and Myths Explained

With 2017 approaching almost a year from now, we hear a lot
of iPhone 7 rumors circulating the web. From curved OLED screens to headphone-less
smartphones, the internet has seen it all. This post is dedicated to all iPhone
7 rumors and myths – explained and busted!
Soon, Apple is going to launch a third iPhone this year with
a 5.5inch screen, along with a newer iPad Air 3 and Apple Watch 2 model. But
what is in store when talking about the new iPhone? It is said that the iPhone
7 is the most eagerly awaited smartphone of 2016.
Release Date: Most
probably, Apple will stick to its September 2016 release date cycle (with
shipping starting soon after release). Last year, the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus was
unveiled on 9 September 2015. Similarly, the iPhone 5, 5S and 5C was unveiled
on 9 September 2014.
Headphones: The
internet is abuzz with rumors that Apple will drop the 3.5mm audio jack in the
iPhone 7, allowing Apple to take away 1mm of thickness in the process. Apple
might also substitute the 3.5mm audio jack with another speaker developed by
Cirrus Logic.
Another possibility is the D Jack, a newly-patented Apple
technology with a diameter of 2mm. However, never underestimate the possibility
of Apple releasing futuristic Wireless Earpods to accompany their latest
technology offering.
Blayne Curtis and Christopher Hemmelgarn, two Barclays
analysts, believe that the iPhone 7 will have a lightning-based audio input
method, with the possibility of having noise-cancellation. The analyst-duo state
that Apple will used a basic digital codec in 2016 with a more advanced smart
codec to be released in 2017 with noise cancellation developed by Cirrus Logic.
Design: Although
there are many iPhone 7 design rumors floating around, one thing we can be sure
of – the iPhone 7 will be slimmer than all previous iPhone models. Many think
that Apple will remove the antenna bands at the top and bottom of the back
panel and place them on the edges of the smartphone, since the case will be so
thin that there won’t be a need for the antenna bands to wrap around the phone’s
exterior. Also, the camera protruding at the back panel might be completely flattened
to add to the aesthetics.
Screen Size: Macworld
says that there will be a 4.7 inch iPhone 7 and a 5.5 inch iPhone 7 Plus. A
stronger screen with a higher pixel density (PPI) is expected.
Storage: 16GB
will no longer be the lowest storage offering. Apple is expected to release a
32GB, 64GB and 128 GB version with some speculating a 256GB version to be in
the works.
Camera: Many
assert that the iPhone 7 Plus will have a dual-camera with 12MP 2-3x optical
zoom with optical image stabilization and wide-angle view from LinX Camera Inc.
acquired by Apple last year.
Other Specifications: The iPhone 7 is expected to have the latest A10 processor (manufactured by TSMC) with 3GB of RAM. Also, expect a much bigger battery life.
