Invoicing Time in QuickBooks

If you cover some workers by the hour for work on projects, it is possible to easily include those payroll costs on invoices.

Payroll-tracking is far easier when everyone is salaried. But if your business sells by-the-hour services, you will need to both pay workers for their time and then bill the customers because of it.

But below are the actions involved in both recording hours and invoicing customers for them. QuickBooks makes it simple.

Start by clicking on the down arrow next to the Input Time icon to the home page (or proceed to Employees | Input Time) and pick Time | Input Single Activity.

If you are recording a single billable job that a worker performed, you would use this window.

Start filling out the fields in this window by simply clicking on the calendar icon and choosing the date that the job was done. If you would like to include some 

explanatory text, then input it in the Notes box.

If your employee was doing workout in the field without access to your pc, simply substitute the 0:00 in the Duration field with the length of time worked that day.

If these hours could be billed back to a client, make certain that there's a checkmark in the box adjacent to Billable.

QuickBooks can help you to save time and improve the validity of your bookkeeping records. Next time you create an invoice for that customer, this box will look after you have chosen his or her title in the drop-down list:

Be certain that the first radio button is filled in if you would like the current invoice to contain unbilled time. 

After you click OK, the Pick Billable Time and Prices window will open. Place a checkmark next to each instance which should appear on the bill. If there are a few, you might choose to combine each of the instances that share the identical service item.

If that's true, click on the Options button

be certain that the next box is selected if you wish to combine related activities on the invoice.

After you click OK, your invoice window will start again, and also the time-related items will be displayed there. You may continue to include line items if needed, and then save the invoice.
