The invention of the touch screen has truly changed the way we use our regular gadgets. Each and every gadget works on the same fundamental principle since they feature a computer or an integrated device which is actually the brain inside the gadget. The user inputs a command or instruction into the gadget with the help of an input device, the computer processes these instructions and displays the results using an output device.

Thus, it is basically a way to communicate with devices in order to inform the things we require it to do. Devices used a keypad, keyboard along with appointing device like mouse to allow users to enter an input. In the twenty-first century, the PC touch screen has contributed in eliminating the requirement for an external keyboard or pointing device. It permits users to navigate the screen itself.

With the help of such a system, you can eliminate the annoying clacking of the keyboard.  The touch screen entered the mainstream technology in the 20th century. The first touch screen was designed by E.A. Johnson around 1965, which became highly admired and observed wide scale integration into gadgets after 2002.

In modern times, PC touch screen is being widely used as a preferred input device in almost every new computer or gadget. It is already being utilized in ATMs, watches, information kiosks, medical equipment, navigation cum audio systems, in-flight entertainment systems, machinery control terminals in phones and factories. Nowadays, you will easily find an electronic device that comprises of embedded touch screen facility.

Now, let us gain an insight to SCADA!  The term SCADA helps in defining centralized systems that monitor and control sites. It also contributes in easy handling of the complexities that is distributed over extensive areas, i.e., anything that exists between an industrial plant and a country. Majority of control actions is automatically executed by the following:

• Remote Terminal units.

• Programmable Logic Controllers.

SCADA – enabling operators to alter the set points

Host control functions are normally restricted to basic overriding or supervisory level involvement. The SCADA system, unlike PLC may enable operators to alter the set points for the flow along with permitting alarm conditions to be exhibited and recorded. The feedback of the control loop goes through the RTU or PLC, while SCADA monitors the complete operation of any loop.

Subsystems of SCADA

A SCADA system typically comprises of subsystems that include the following:

• Human Machine Interface

It is the apparatus that presents processed data to any operator. 

• Supervisory

It obtains data on the process and sends commands to the whole process.

• Communication infrastructure

It connects the supervisory system to the remote terminal unit.

• Remote terminal unit

The remote terminal unit helps to connect sensors in the whole process to convert sensor signals to digital data and sending the dame to the supervisory system.

• Programmable logic controller

It is used as a field device due to its multipurpose usage.

Hey myself Archer Finch. Even though I took extra care about my systems, but still it was more prone to hacking. With the introduction of the PC touch screen, my system is now very much safe from all sorts of threats, as most of the SCADA system are connected to web based portals or products.
