Introducing the Most Innovative Window Cleaning Robot - HOBOT-298.

The HOBOT-298 Ultrasonic is a well-known Taiwanese manufacturer of household robots, HOBOT Technology Inc. - differs from others in the function of spraying liquid onto the glass surface using an ultrasonic membrane. According to the manufacturer, this model is the first in the world that has the ability to automatically spray detergent. This function should turn the robot into a full-fledged washing device, and not an automatic mop, the rag of which must be constantly moistened and rinsed with water. That is why the manufacturer recommends its new product as an ideal washer for large showcases, office glazing, and very large panoramic windows. However, the device will cope with washing small windows just as well.

The robot comes in a relatively small cardboard box, on all sides of which are photos of the device with a description of its capabilities and detailed technical characteristics. Almost all the information about the new product posted on the pages of the manufacturer's official website can be obtained by looking at the box.

The basic principle of operation of the HOBOT-298 Ultrasonic is exactly the same as that of other models of window cleaning robots. A vacuum pump creates a vacuum between the cleaning surface of the robot and the glass. Just a few kilogram-force (several tens of newtons) is enough for such a device to firmly adhere to the glass. The design of the novelty uses a brushless motor with a metal impeller. According to the manufacturer, the noise level from the device is 64 dB, which is noticeably quieter than a conventional vacuum cleaner.

Rubber tracks are responsible for moving the robot on the glass. The HOBOT-298 Ultrasonic model has two of them. It is very important that there is sufficient friction between the track and the glass (even when dirty). Otherwise, the robot will slide in place or even slide down the glass. Exactly how the novelty is doing with this, we will definitely check it during testing. In the meantime, we note that the speed of linear movement is 4 inches/sec, which is quite good.

Well, the glass is washed with a microfiber cloth. And this is where the main difference between the HOBOT-298 Ultrasonic and all other models lies. This robot is equipped with a replaceable cleaning fluid tank with an integrated ultrasonic spray nozzle. It sprays liquid in front of the robot, bringing the droplet size to a few micrometers. Thanks to the even distribution and at the same time a small amount of sprayed liquid, the robot does not slip or slip on the surface to be cleaned. However, the manufacturer still recommends slightly moistening the napkin with the same cleaning liquid supplied before each cleaning step.

Proprietary cleaning fluid can be replaced with regular distilled water. The manufacturer prohibits the use of anything else since any other liquid can clog the ultrasonic nozzle. The latter can be replaced with the spare one supplied, but only once. In other cases, you will have to purchase and change the entire removable fluid tank. The tank itself is declared as consumable, and therefore the warranty does not cover it, unfortunately.
