Indian Muslims Face Rooh Afza Crisis during Ramadan

by Emily John Digital Marketing Service Provider

New Delhi, India- Mohammad Imran runs a shop near New Delhi’s Jama Masjid and he could not find Rooh Afza in this summer for his customers. The same is the situation with Shaista Begum who is fasting but luckily she does not give up and goes to nearby Hamdard store to find out a bottle of Rooh Afza.

She said, “I went to more than 10 shops in the area and finally find the drink to break her fast.

She tells Al-Jazeera, the news agency which covers the news from all over the world especially the latest Indian Muslims News for Ramadan considering India’s Importance on the world stage.

Jameela Khatoon, meanwhile had come to Jama Masjid and luckily finds 4 bottles, she happily says that her Ramadan will be great now. This is the importance of Ramadan for Indian Muslims and rightly so. This drink is not just a drink; it is a tradition which is followed for hundreds of years now.

Shortage in the Market, Pakistan Ready to Help

Most of the Muslim dealers say that the supply from Hamdard has been less by up to 50 percent. One said, “The government and these news channels are busy covering Hindu-Muslim relation news rather than this growing problem for our community.” It is not just in New Delhi; Ammar Yasir of West Bengal said that he returned more than 250 people in the last two days from his shop.

Meanwhile India’s neighbor Pakistan wants to help Pakistan in this time. Hamdard Pakistan’s CEO tweeted that he would like to help Indian people as he can sent his trucks through Wagah Border. But due to Indian Government’s restriction of trade he can’t do it.

He says, if the government can uplift the 200 percent tax tariff, he would soon sent trucks via Wagah border which has been confirmed by Pakistan Foreign Minister’s office. Pakistan’s spokesperson said, “If the supply of Rooh Afza from Pakistan quenches their thirst, then we will surely want to do this.”

Whatever be the reason, whether it is black marketing or less supply, Rooh Afza is not just a drink it is more than that. We hope that the drink would soon be available in large numbers so that our community can fully celebrate this pious festival, says one street vendor.
