In Lockdown due to Covid-19? We’re all in this together! The current global pandemic however has hit us hard and fast, leaving us scrambling to adjust – and make the arrangements we need to embrace lockdown life. Restrictions around spending time outdoors is something which is alien to us in Australia. However, it is part and parcel of what we must do as a nation to flatten the curve and play a helping hand in helping our country get a stronghold on the pandemic.
If you, like so many others, are struggling with spending so many hours indoors, in the confinements of your own home, we’ve got some tips to make things a little easier. It’s time to create your own little lockdown haven – and we’re offering top tips on how you can turn your bedroom into that much needed haven:
1. Clear away clutter
There has never been a more important time to de-clutter your bedroom. Physical clutter creates mental clutter – and with the current lockdown situation, there is already enough things at play to cause mental clutter among us. Keep your bedroom a calming space by clearing out or at least away any clutter. That goes for every space in your bedroom – shelving and storage, cabinets, drawers, your wardrobe – even under your bed.
2. Pop up some photo frames and mementos
Lockdown means being away from family, friends and loved ones for most people. However, popping some photo frames with your favourite pictures of those you’re currently separated from, hanging and positioning some mementos around your room can create a space where you can still feel close to those you really care about.
3. Separate your workspace
If your bedroom has become your new home office during lockdown, make sure you have a proper work space set up and position it as far away from your bed as possible – this may mean some furniture re-arranging but it will be worth it. Ideally you will have your back to your bed! You need to have a comfortable place to be productive but also maintain your bedroom space as a sacred haven where you can switch off at the end of the day.
4. Let the outside in
Make the most of natural light, positioning mirrors and clearing window areas to ensure you can allow natural light to flow. Open your window to allow air in and even consider keeping some fresh flowers on display to remind you that there is a world out there.
5. Keep your bed a welcome end of day retreat
The days can seem extra-long in lockdown so ensure your bed truly is calling you as a place of incredible comfort at the end of every day. Now is a wise time to invest in some supportive pillows, a good Australian wool quilt, incorporate throws and blankets or add an Australian wool underlay to your mattress, to create an ultra-luxurious place to rest your head every night and get a great night’s sleep
The above are just some of our top tips for creating your own bedroom haven in lockdown. Take heed of these 5 tips to make lockdown that little easier and breathe much-needed new life into your bedroom.
