Ticks do not jump or drop just like that from any tree onto your back and head. If you ever find a tick attached to your body, it probably latched onto your leg or foot and moved up. Ticks generally try & attach around the ears or head. They usually crawl up as they suck blood around body parts like neck, ears and head of the host.

These creatures hatch from the eggs & develop through 3 active stages-larvae, nymphs and adults. If you find them bigger, they are probably full of blood or partially-full.

Ticks may be active in winter as well. In fact, the deer ticks, which are in the adult stage get active each and every year only after first frost. They aren't killed by the freezing temperatures.

Tick transmit infections. In fact, this has become more common nowadays than it was in the past. With increase in the deer populations, scientists have found out a list of disease causing microbes that are transmitted by the ticks- Babesia protozoa, Lyme disease bacteria, Ehrlichia, Anaplasma, Bartonella bacteria and many more. In the past, tick bites used to create an irritation but nowadays the bite makes people sick.

A person will only get infected with Lyme disease when he or she bitten by deer tick. The other kinds of ticks like lone start ticks, dog ticks and others do not transmit the Lyme disease.

For most of the tick-borne diseases, you will at least have twenty-four hours in finding & removing any feeding tick before it actually transmits the infection. A daily check at shower or bath time may even be helpful. If you think you are exposed, you will need to check a lot more carefully. Various disease causing microbes that are transmitted by the ticks require a 're-activation' stage in tick after it starts to feed. Germs ultimately make their intrusion into salivary glands of tick & tick spits them to you when feeding. A few of the infections, particularly the viruses, basically move into the salivary glands of the tick a lot more faster than the others. And Lyme disease bacteria actually take at a minimum of twenty-four hours for invading the saliva of the tick.

The medium size deer ticks look like poppy seeds on the skin. You can easily miss them. They generally climb up and bite in areas that are hard-to-see. Their bites are usually painless.

A sharp tweezer is the best tool to remove tick from the skin. It is the safest and easiet way of removing these creatures. The other techniques of tick removal include hot match, dish soap & cotton, vaseline, and others.

There is only one means of getting a tick-transmitted disease & that is from tick bite. So, getting rid of tick in the yard by hiring the services of professional companies that offer pest control in Northern Beaches is essential. It is also essential to wear tick repellent garments on a daily basis and treat pets each and every month, do a quick scan of the body for medium or larger sized ticks and pull ticks off safely and quickly for tick bites prevention.
