The demand for more qualified and trained embryologists has led the International Institute of Reproduction and Fertility Training (IIRFT) in collaboration with the International Fertility Centre to design and launch a specialised course from this academic session.

IIRFT offers various short term Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) courses that include Basic course in Semenology IUI, Advanced course in ICSI, Introductory course in ART, Certificate course in ART and Advanced course in cryopreservation for candidates who wish to have comprehensive hands-on training on a one-one basis in all fields of IVF & ICSI and other ART services.

According to IVF specialist, Dr. Rita Bakshi, who is also the chairperson of IFC, says, “Infertility is one the rise across the globe, and we need well-trained professionals who are enthusiastic to enter in ART field. We will give students a firm grounding in the theory and practical aspects of embryology and ART."

Candidates who complete these short term courses will have an opportunity to get placed in the industry. “We want to bridge the gap between supply and demand and make sure our embryologists will have an upper hand in the practice,” Dr. Seema Bajaj, a faculty member, who has over 12 years experience in fertility industry.

Basic course in Semenology IUI - is ideal for beginners as it provides effective insight into the field of andrology. The course will help the applicants learn about sperm per se and sperm processing techniques that are used for various ART procedures.

Advanced course in ICSI - is entirely devoted to those candidates who wish to perfect their fine skills of ICSI.

Introductory Course in ART - is an all-inclusive course that comes with integrated lectures and hands on incorporating all the ART techniques. This will also be including basic instrumentation and application support.

Certificate course in ART - can be explained as an extension of the Introductory course in ART. This course is designed in such a way that it also includes a five day visit to a reputed IVF centre to understand the live functioning of the ART procedures and sharpening of skills for another 5 days on their return back to IIRFT.

Advanced course in cryopreservation - can be defined as a "Cryo" oriented course that includes interactive demo, lectures and limited hands on. The course will enable the candidates to get exhaustively familiar with freezing techniques, instruments and protocols related to sperm, oocytes, embryos and blastocysts.

Faculty from International Institute of Reproduction and Fertility Training, in addition to two IVF specialists, gynaecologists and advisers from the International Fertility Centre, will train the students.
