Hypnotherapy for Anxiety - 5 Reasons Why

by Dillon Patterson Article Publisher

Have you ever considered Hypnotherapy for Anxiety?

A lot of my clients come to me to try Hypnotherapy for the first time having already tried many other therapies, in some cases for years and years, because often Hypnotherapy is seen as a last resort. I've become very used to hearing them say they wished they had tried Hypnotherapy sooner!

So why
Hypnotherapy?  There are numerous reasons; however for the purpose of this blog I'll list 5.

  1. Hypnotherapy is one of the briefest therapies.  While results do vary, most clients see a significant improvement within 3 sessions,  in fact most feel better after the 1st session.  For people with very deep rooted Anxiety, Panic, Phobia or OCD more sessions will be beneficial.
  2. A good Hypnotherapist will teach you skills and coping techniques that can be applied in any situation to help substantially reduce the likelihood of feeling overwhelmed by Anxiety.
  3. Hypnotherapy creates a sense of empowerment, the Hypnotherapist will guide the process of change, however the client will be aware that they themselves made the change needed and had the power to do it. A new sense of calm and control often results.
  4. Often the source of Anxiety is sub-conscious, it can be difficult for the Anxious person to identify specific triggers, this can result in their life becoming increasingly limited as they avoid more and more activities "in case" an unexpected trigger occurs.  Hypnotherapy works at a sub-conscious level to address the response to triggers by identifying and reducing their significance. The clients imagination is enlisted to re-calibrate the setting at which the  flight and fight response will be set off.  We of course don't seek to get rid of this essential survival response, rather we adjust it to a more appropriate level.
  5. Hypnotherapy provides long-term results by addressing the issue at it's perceived cause and providing the skills to prevent a recurrence.  The change is accelerated because through Hypnotherapy the brain is given the opportunity to see new more appropriate responses to former anxiety triggers rehearsed over and over again rapidly in the clients imagination; a process not unlike how elite athletes use visualisation to prepare for major events.  This fast-tracks the process of desensitising the brain to old triggers and creating new calmer responses in their place.
