Hydrojetting and its Many Benefits

by Charles Ponting Wheaton plumber

Hydrojetting occurs when a high-pressured flow of water is used to scour the interior of plumbing pipes. The primary purpose for hydrojetting is to remove built-up scale, grease, and debris inside pipes. Another method for cleaning out pipes is rodding, or the use of a tool to power through this buildup, but it simply makes a hole while hydrojetting gets rid of debris completely.

One of the primary benefits of hydrojetting is that is a comprehensive solution to various plumbing issues. When used in place of methods such as rodding, hydrojetting will completely remove debris from a home or business’ pipe system. Overtime, hair, grease, soap residue and even non-flushable items accumulate. Hydrojetting helps get rid of all old and stuck-on debris, removing blockages that cause clogging. Plumbers can also use hydrojetting to help resolve tree root infiltration as well as mineral and scale build-up in sewer drains.

When you call in a Wheaton plumber for a hydrojetting service at your home or business, you can see how it is done - simple gravity. The standard home plumbing system uses gravity to help pull wastewater out of the home and onto the sewer system in your area. When hydrojetting is used, the process works from the bottom up. Work begins at the cleanout, and this open area allows a plumber to place a hose attached to a tank of water. The water is pressurized within the tank, and this pressure can deliver up to 20 gallons of water per minute - eliminating all debris completely.

Hydrojetting, as stated, is a method to completely remove the debris and grease causing blockages in your home’s water and sewer system. However, it should only be done by a professional with reliable service and a trustworthy reputation. If done incorrectly, it can go terribly wrong. In the least, you will have paid for a service that will need to be redone. Make sure the plumber you hire can visually inspect your home’s indoor plumbing system using camera equipment before implementing a plan or stating a cost.  Hydrojetting requires a plumber to understand the condition of your pipe and whether the process can help solve your plumbing issues.

Working with an experienced plumber is the only way to go to make sure the job is done right the first time. As with any major plumbing work, only use the best company to get your home or business back to normal.
