How tongue twisters can improve your pronunciation

by Anna Fowler Internet Marketing

Tongue twister is an array of words which are difficult to pronounce quickly and accurately. It is essential for English learners to practice tongue twisters for correct articulation. They not only accelerate the rhythm and flow of English but also enhance the vocabulary. Initially, they seem easy to pronounce but are tough when you say them fast. Sometimes their pronunciation results in saying something silly which amuses the listeners. So you learn with fun.

Underneath are some simple and short tongue twisters. Pronounce them slowly focusing on each word and gear up once your tongue becomes habitual of saying them.

1.    Big black bug bit a big black bear and the big black bear bled black blood.

2.    High roller, low roller, lower roller.

Don’t go by their meaning as few of them may be meaningless. Concentrate only on the articulation. It will be fun watching the shape of your mouth and the placement of your tongue, if you say them in front of the mirror. Practice them and bring clarity to your speech. Tongue twisters make your tongue habitual of pronouncing difficult and same sounding words easily. You need to enunciate each word correctly. The speed may be slow initially but increases gradually once the pronunciation of all the words is well understood. Try to memorize these tongue twisters and practice saying them frequently. You are a master if the pronunciation is accurate!
