How to Write the Perfect SOP
by Seek Academy Training InstituteOne of the most important
criteria for getting admission into one of the top universities or colleges in
India or elsewhere in the world is an SOP. SOP stands for Statement of Purpose and in it, you should be able to articulate as
to what you stand for and what you want to achieve and why this course matter
to you the most. This is all that goes into an SOP.
Generally, a typical SOP
would consist of 400 – 500 words divided into 4 or 5 paragraphs. This is
nothing but a basic essay. Seek
Consultants provide SOP Writing Services and make sure that it stays
true to your personality so that you don’t have any difficulty in the admission
process.
Here are some SOP Writing
Tips:-
The first paragraph should
be about you, family background, and your education. The main focus should be
on education in the first paragraph. The second paragraph should be all about
your achievements. Here you should be highlighting very categorically all the
achievements that you have done right from school to college days. Also, you
should mention any projects that you have completed during your degree and any
job opportunities you have had.
The third paragraph should
highlight your skills. Every student has a different set of skills and
therefore you should be able to articulate very clearly and carefully the
specific skills you have. The key here is to stay concise on 4 – 5 skills that
you have. This next paragraph should be all about the innovator in you. The
admission department really likes individuals that have the fire to innovate
something new. This also gives the admission department an indication that the
individual is self-driven.
The last paragraph should
be about your career goals. Here you can write about your long term and short
term goals after completing the course. Also, you can write about your
aspirations that you would like to pursue.
Many times people go
overboard when writing about themselves. The way you write should be very
composed and it should be absolutely factual. In case somebody asks you for
evidence, you should be able to produce immediately. The admission department
actually reads what you write and therefore, it has to be very factual.
Also, while writing, you
should be able to maintain a storyline and each paragraph should be connected
to the previous one. If the dots don’t connect, the readers will feel
disinterested and the SOP might not get the job done for you. Every statement
should be backed by an example if possible.
Also, you may be tempted to copy stuff from the internet but it is highly advised that you don’t because the admission department is used to reading a lot of SOPs and they can tell whether your SOP is a genuine one or not. Keep these SOP Writing Tips in mind and surely you will be able to create a good statement of purpose.
