HOW TO WEAR A MAXI DRESS IF YOU ARE SHORT AND CURVY

by Modora Fashion Women's Fashion

A lot of the short and curvy women shy away from the thought of wearing a maxi dress because it would not look good on them. Maxi are typically ankle-length dresses that can make you look like you are drowning in all that fabric, which is not a good look. But that does not mean we don't want to wear maxi dresses. Of course, we do. It's a staple in most women's wardrobes, and they look super chic wearing it out during summer. There is no rule book that says short women can not wear maxi dresses. A key component to wearing anything is in the way you style it, not the clothing itself. With that said, let's look at ways you can style maxi dresses this season and use them to flaunt your best features. The women's maxi dresses are a great way to create an illusion of a lone figure.

1. Block colours

Trying block colours is a safe option if you're just starting. It will not overwhelm you or your outfit in a way that loud prints and patterns might. A great option Is this solid coloured Orange Rounded Neck Full Length Dress.

If you like to mix and match or play with colours, you can opt for monochromatic dresses. After solid colours, this is your best bet.

2. High waistlines

Try to find maxi dresses that have a high waistline. The reason for this is that it will make your bottom half look longer, giving you an overall taller look.

 3. Fabric

Consider the fabric of the dress. You don't want to wear heavy, crunchy materials that won't softly drop over your body. Some safe fabric options to create a feminine and flattering look are chiffon or silk dresses.

 4. Consider the shape

Make your curves work for you. Avoid wearing dresses that are a loose fit and drop straight from your shoulders to your ankles. It will make you look twice your size and seem to drown in it. Instead, wear dresses that hug your curves gently and make you feel conformable and confident. Focus on your waist and your neck style. A V-neck maxi dress will add to the illusion of an elongated figure.

 5. Avoid bold prints

Let's get this one straight, do NOT wear dresses filled with patterns. Prints that are too bright, colorful and bold will add to your figure and overwhelm your outfit. Opt for minimal prints and plain solid colours, and subtle details.

6. The length

Maxi dresses are meant to come up till your ankles. This length is ideal for creating an elongated figure because it clearly defines the body shape without making it seem like you're walking in a gown. Take your time to pick the right length; if you cannot, get it altered. A dress that is perfect in length does not stay in wardrobes for long periods of time.

7. Stripes

Another hack to help your figure is by considering wearing vertical stripes dresses. It is proven that vertical stripes help to elongate the figure. On the other hand, avoid horizontal lines. They are not going to work in your favour.

8. Accessorise

Maxi dresses are the main element of your outfit. To make up for some little extra height, you can wear heels. A nude shaded heel will not directly draw attention and make you look tall. Additionally, you can add a belt to accentuate your waist or wear cropped jackets for some texture.
