How to Troubleshoot PS4 Overheating Issues

There are a lot of ways to avoid or fix overheating issues for your PS4. Thus, below are the ways to keep your PS4 away from overheating.

Let your PS4 cool down a bit

While using your PS4 for long durations; you must give your console a little rest and let it cool down for a bit. Turn off your console and keep it aside to give it some rest.

In case, your console is still overheating after you’ve turned it off, the room temperature might be affecting its performance. The atmosphere shouldn’t be too hot or too cold if you want to avoid any performance errors in your PS4.

Cleaning of ports for proper ventilation

Building up of dust on your console can disable proper ventilation in your device thus, causing overheating issues. Make sure to clean the ports and the device for the ventilation to work effectively.

Follow the steps mentioned below to keep a hold on the same:

  1. Turn off your PS4.
  2. Take a can of compressed air, which by the way is very useful while fixing ventilation issues with your gadget. Start navigating the can near the fan of your device.
  3. Clean off the dust from the ports using a soft cloth.
  4. Once you’re done cleaning the fan and the ports, turn around your PS4 and clean the below surface as well.

After this, you can turn on your PS4 and look after the ventilation issue, if it’s fixed or not. If your device is still overheating, make sure the ventilation area is not blocked with any object.

Update your PlayStation and games

Not every person plays their PS4 on the web or even has it snared to the Wi-Fi, yet updating your console will reduce the danger of exhausting itself and overheating. The steps to keep your console up-to-date are:

  1. Go to the ‘Settings’ menu of your PS4 represented with a briefcase icon.
  2. From the list of settings, click on the ‘System Software Update.’
  3. Next, click on the ‘Check for Updates’ button.
  4. If there is any update available, it’ll reflect on your screen thus, click on the ‘Install Update’ button to continue.

The steps to update your games are:

  1. Go to the main window of your PS4 and select the game that you want to update.
  2. Tap the ‘Options’ button on your controller.
  3. A list of options will appear in the pop-up window. Click on the ‘Check for Update’ option.
  4. If there is any update available, it’ll reflect on your screen thus, click on the ‘Install Update’ button to continue.
