How to Stay Committed to Your Fitness Routine

by Kevin Smith Author

At one point or another, it happens to every fitness club member. You join a new gym. You show up faithfully every day. You suddenly become bored with your workout. Before you know it, weeks or months go by and you can’t even remember what the inside of your gym looks like. You don’t only lose track of your progress, but you also realize that you’re losing money in the process. Thankfully, there are a few things you can do to make sure you’re showing up for your fitness classes in Phoenix, AZ. Here are some key strategies to help yourself stay committed to your fitness routine.

Set Realistic Goals

When you first decided to join a fitness club, you most likely hit the ground running. It’s an exciting feeling to finally commit to a membership. You gain access to state of the art cardio machines, health and fitness instructors, and a variety of classes. During this initial stage, many members will set high and unrealistic goals for themselves. Once they realize these goals aren’t exactly feasible, they’re more likely to quit altogether. It’s important to set achievable and realistic goals to help yourself stay committed and on track.

Bring a Friend

Remember that there’s always strength in numbers. People who work out with a friend are twice as likely to stick to a workout routine than people who work out alone. It comes from a combination of not wanting to let your friend down and a healthy dose of competition. Plus, it’s just more fun! Try to find a friend that’s willing to join a fitness club with you and commit to a routine that works well for both of you. It can be a great way to spend quality time with someone you love while you also get fit at the same time.

Mix It Up

Another way you can help yourself stay committed to your workout routine is to mix it up every now and again. If you find yourself constantly on the same machine, for the same amount of time, with the same settings, it may be time to look for something new. Hop on different machines during your next visit. Try out different fitness classes in Phoenix, AZ. It’s important to avoid boredom at all costs. When you start to feel disinterested in your workout, remember that it’s important to mix it up. It’s also important to mix up your workout routine so you don’t hit a plateau with your progress. Changing up your routine is the best way to stick to your goals and continue to see rewards.
