first of all the user should run the repair disk on their systems. For this :

-open Microsoft Word and go to menu.
-select on utilities and then run the disk utility menu.
-then, select on the primary hard disk made for the system.
-after this select on first aid menu and lastly select on repair disk option.

The user should also remove the word preferences from the application. For doing this :

-select on library option and from there click on preferences menu.
-then look for a file namely com.microsoft.word.plist.
-take the file and move it to the desktop of the systems.
-start Microsoft word on MAC device and check whether the issue is solved or not.

Therefore, by following the above steps the user can easily solve microsoft word not opening or working on mac issues whenever they face it.
