by Halcyon Dreams Australian Wool Quilts OnlineThe holiday season is upon us, and we’re spending more time with family and friends, enjoying parties and get-togethers and rushing around to ensure that we make the most of every minute of the festivities. However, burning the candle at both ends can lead to burnout sooner than you think.
So if you want to sleep well during the holidays, read on for our top tips which including everything from sticking to a sleep schedule to choosing to sleep under an Australian wool quilt.
Sticking to a Planned Sleep Schedule
Perhaps easier said than done, especially when there is so much going on, but trying to get a regular 7-8 hours of sleep each evening will help you to sleep much better. Whenever possible, go to bed at the same time and set your alarm for the same time each morning.
Watch Your Intake of Food and Drink
A large part of the holiday fun is being able to eat and drink some of your Christmas favourites. There’s always a get together somewhere with tempting beverages and dishes galore.
Try to avoid eating too much before bedtime and stop drinking caffeine and alcohol a few hours before you plan to go to sleep if you want to avoid a restless night’s sleep and a groggy start to the morning.
Create a Relaxing Sleeping Environment
Make your bedroom a haven of tranquillity and calm. Use low lighting, keep the room cool and make sure that your bed is as cosy and comfortable as possible. Australian wool quilts are the perfect option for helping to regulate your body temperature, keeping you warm in winter and cool in summer. You may also want to invest in blackout blinds to ensure that your room stays as dark as possible while you’re sleeping.
Get Plenty of Exercise
When party season comes along, it’s easy to sideline your exercise routine, but regular exercise will help you to feel more physically tired and therefore help you to get to sleep more easily. Schedule some time at the gym, get out for a walk or spend time at the beach ‘doing’ instead of just relaxing.
Don’t Be Tempted to Nap
We’re all tempted to take a quick nap to help give us more energy to keep going during the party season, but naps can have a detrimental effect on regular sleep patterns. So if you’re feeling in need of a snooze during the day, why not try meditating instead?
It’s said to give you all the benefits of napping without affecting the quality of your sleep. In fact, it’s supposed to help you to sleep better too.
