How to Set Up a Gmail Account in Outlook 2013

Now you can start the setup. Here’s what to do.

ENABLE IMAP FROM YOUR GMAIL SETTINGS

1. Sign in to Gmail.

2. In the upper right-hand corner you’ll see a gear icon. Clicking the icon will give you a dropdown menu. Select Settings.

3. Select Forwarding and POP/IMAP.

4. Select Enable IMAP.

5. Click Save Changes.

Now it’s time to add the Gmail account to Outlook.

ADDING AN GMAIL ACCOUNT WITH IMAP

1. Start Microsoft Office.

2. Click the File button. The “Info” tab will be highlighted. Click the Add Account button under the “Account Information” section.

3. The “Add Account” window will open. Select the option for “Manual setup or additional server types.” Click Next.

4. Select the option for “POP or IMAP” and click Next.

5. Fill out the boxes with your name and email address. Select IMAP as the account type. The incoming mail server is

“imap.gmail.com” and the outgoing email server is “smtp.gmail.com.” Select Next.

6. In the “POP and IMAP Account Settings” window, click the More Settingsbutton on the right near the bottom.

Select the “Advanced” tab.

For the “Incoming server (IMAP),” enter “993” and select “SSL” from the dropdown menu.

For the “Outgoing server (SMTP),” enter “25” and select “TLS” from the dropdown menu.

Click OK.

7. You’ll be taken back to the “Add Account” screen. Click Next to complete the setup.

8. Select the “Send/Receive” tab, and click on the Send/Receive All Folders button to receive all your email from the Gmail account.
