How To Select The Best Water Purifier For Your Home

by Eureka Forbes Home Appliance Providers

Drinking purified water is extremely important for your well-being. Yes, the raw water movement is popular, but it is unsafe to experiment with such fads. It is best to stay safe and have access to pure, filtered drinking water.

If you are in the market for water purifiers, you will be faced with a range of options. Which ones are the best water purifiers for home use? Should you buy an RO purifier or a UV one? There are also RO+UV purifiers to make it even more difficult for you to choose from. What should you keep in mind when buying a purifier? Read on for more on how to select the best model for your home.

 UV purifier

Ultra-violet or UV purifiers use ultra-violet heat to keep water clear from contaminants. The e-boiling feature ensures that each drop of water is as safe as the water that has been boiled for more than 20 minutes. The UV purifier is useful if your water source is from a lake or tank from your city. Such water bodies often contain disease-causing viruses or bacteria. UV purifiers come with a range of cartridges that not just absorb impurities, but also fortify water with essential materials like magnesium and calcium. The model also comes with an intuitive LED display.

RO purifier for bore well water

If the water supplied to your home is from a bore well, chances are it contains a high level of TDS or total dissolved salts. Not only are many salts harmful, they also leave a metallic flavour in the water. Reverse osmosis or RO is the process that involves water made to pass through a membrane at high pressure so that all the salts are filtered out. The harmful salts like mercury, arsenic are all filtered out. Modern-day RO purifiers come with cartridges that retain the essential salts. There’s also a green RO purifier that lowers water wastage. If the TDS level in your water is in the 200-500 range, you can opt for the green purifier.

Then there are UF purifiers or purifiers that come with an ultrafiltration membrane. This membrane is a lot like the RO membrane but comes with larger pores that can’t filter out dissolved contaminants or salts. However, the UF purifier eliminates any microorganisms in the water, including the tiniest of viruses. The UF purifier can work without power.

Universal purifier

A universal purifier uses both RO and UV technologies, depending on the source of water that you receive at home. The purifier allows you to manually choose the technology you want to use. It also comes with a range of cartridges that don’t just filter out impurities but also enhance the taste of water.

No matter which one you buy, make sure it comes with a warranty. Check all the specifications before buying. You could even buy online and have the purifier home-delivered.

Don’t compromise on the quality of drinking water you use because it is the first essential step towards a healthier lifestyle.
