How to Save Money So You Can Travel More This New Year

by Dillon Patterson Article Publisher

If travelling was free, most of us would probably drop everything, pack our bags, and leave in a heartbeat. But let’s face it. Travelling costs money, and unless you’re expecting a windfall coming soon, you need to save every dollar to fund your journeys in 2018.

Lucky for you, there are plenty of ways you can make it happen. You can include travelling more to your new year’s resolution with the help of these simple but efficient ways listed below.

Have a practical mindset.

Let’s say you’re just casually walking around the mall and a nice dress that costs $30 catches your eye. Resist the urge to buy it and think about adding that $30 to your travel fund. It doesn’t really matter whether you put away $10, $20 or even $100. Every dollar you save will go a long way.

Sell stuff you no longer use.

The New Year is the perfect time to check all the stuff you don’t use anymore and sell them. Whether it’s clothes, shoes, mobile devices, old video games, you name it, go ahead and have a yard sale and sell them all. If you haven’t used something you own for at least six months, that’s a good sign that you probably don’t need it anymore.

Stop wasting money on cab fares.

If you are always on the go and find yourself riding a taxi all the time, you’ll be better off hiring a car because you’ll have the flexibility to go anywhere you want, and leave anytime you want. You can even bring your family and friends when you travel without spending too much on transportation.

Pack your own lunch to work.

Buying food at your local fast food chain or grocery store can get very expensive over time. You can save a lot of money when you prepare your own food and bring it with you at work. It doesn’t have to be a fancy meal. Sometimes, just a simple egg sandwich with some ham and lettuce will do.

Rent out your extra space.

Do you have an empty room or storage space? Rent it out. This is a fast and easy way for you to earn some serious cash. You can also meet new people when you rent out your room to transient visitors who are passing by your town and need a place to spend the night.

Dine at home with friends.

Instead of going to an expensive restaurant with your mates to treat yourselves, you can get together at home and have a potluck. If you love to cook, this is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your specialities. If your friends like you’re cooking so much, you can even sell it to them and earn some cash.

Make good use of your skills.

Do you love to write? Then why don’t you put your skills to good use and start writing on the side? Many folks out there are eager to pay good money for blogs, news articles or any type of content for their websites. You can easily do this at home during your spare time and create a new source of income while doing something you already love.
