Troubleshooting Methods To Fix Damaged QuickBooks Data

Solution 1: Repair your company file using the Rebuild Data tool

The Rebuild Data tool is built-in to QuickBooks Desktop and can automatically fix minor company file issues like QuickBooks error 6000 832 that you may come across now and then. For using the Rebuild data tool, you must proceed with the below-given steps:

  • Go to the File menu, from there click on Utilities and select Rebuild Data.

  • Click OK on the QuickBooks Information window and then, follow the onscreen instructions to save a backup.

  • Let the tool repair your file. However, it may take some time.

  • When the tool finishes, click OK.

  • Go to the File menu again, hover over Utilities and select Verify Data.

  • Let the tool check your file for data issues.

  • If QuickBooks doesn't find any problems, click OK. Thus, you can continue using your company file.

  • If QuickBooks finds an issue with your company file, click on Rebuild Now.


Solution 2: Run QuickBooks File Doctor

You can try fixing the damaged QuickBooks data with the File Doctor Tool. But for that, you have to download and install the QuickBooks Tools Hub (1.5.0.0) and prefer using it on Windows 10, 64-bit. For this, make sure to close the QuickBooks program. Once done, you have to run the QuickBooks File Doctor. For doing this, you can follow the below-given steps: 

  • Open the Tool Hub and select the Company File Issues tab.

  • After that, select the Run QuickBooks File Doctor option. 

  • Further, select your company file from the drop-down menu. If you couldn’t find your file, click on Browse and search to locate your file.

  • Click on check your file option and then, choose Continue.

  • When prompted, enter your QuickBooks admin password and click on Next.

Solution 3: Manually repair your company file by rebuilding your data

If you’re comfortable manually fixing your errors, you can find the errors you can fix from the Verify Results window. Before you get started, make sure to backup your company file and then, follow the below-given steps:

  • Go to the File menu, hover over Utilities and select Verify Data.

  • Let the tool check your file for data issues.

  • From the Verify Results screen, select Expand All to see the errors.

  • For the steps to fix the error, select See Online Article. If the error doesn’t have an article, contact support for help repairing your company file.
