7ev3n Ransomware can be considered as a browser hijacker or a tricky ransomware program that is able to affect the targeted computer and hijack the browser and change the default homepage to its specified domain forcibly. No matter how users try to close the hijacked page, the ransomware won’t allow them to close it and it is able to show the same page in every new tab. In fact, cybercriminals utilize the pesky browser hijacker to display appalling warning message saying that users’ PCs have been involved in many illegal online activities and they need to par for a fine, which is absolutely a false accusation without legal basis. Otherwise, users can no longer access other websites normally and their data stored on the PCs may be erased if they don’t pay for the required fine.

Cybercriminals who created 7ev3n Ransomware make use of several law enforcement agencies’ names and logos to frighten innocent users so that they will believe the counterfeit authority and pay the bogus fine to avoid more serious problems. More than that, several legal guidelines and punishment regulations are listed on the warning message so as to render the seriousness of the matter and make the warning message convincing. In most cases, the ignorant users are deceived by the bogus police because they are afraid to be held liable and be arrested for the illegal activities online. Moreover, users are afraid that the affected browsers and machines may be in danger of attacked by other malicious threats and they may lose all important data and files, so they decide to pay the fine as requested.
