When you plan on starting a car hauling business it is indeed a huge undertaking. Successfully accomplishing a car forwarding service depends on various factors. With a knowledgeable team and a well-maintained car trailer, one can fulfil the task perfectly. But one of the major considerations of the car transportation industry is the heath of the car trailer in which automobiles will be carried. No matter what kind of car tailers are in question open, enclosed, 4, 5 or 6 etc. They must be maintained regularly to keep them in prim-proper condition.

Let’s look at how one must properly take care of a car trailer :

Regular maintenance:
Regular maintenance is critical before towing your automobile trailer. It aids in the detection of small faults and the avoidance of unexpected trailer collisions while driving. A daily inspection improves the operation of a vehicle trailer. Regular upkeep of open, enclosed, 4, 5 or 6 car trailers include:

  • Checking tyre pressure
  • Inspection of the braking system and suspension
  • Checking the trailer lights and indicators

Due to their size, 6-car trailers need special care and attention.

Monthly Maintenance:
It is necessary to stay updated with monthly maintenance as it would help with the smooth performance of your car trailer like 4, 5 or 6 car trailers. One of the important elements of monthly maintenance is lubrication:

Lubrication: To improve performance, lubrication should be included in the monthly maintenance routine.

Maintenance every 6 years:
Car Trailer 6 months maintenance must be performed without any delay. Inspect and fix the locations listed below on your vehicle trailer.

Electric brakes: Examine the wear and tear and defects in the brakes.
Inspect the power output or amperage and modulation of electric brakes (controller in tow vehicle).
Tires: Thoroughly inspect the tread and sidewalls. If the tyres are worn out and the sidewall is damaged, they must be replaced.
Brake: Inspect the braking action.
Brake shoes and drums: Thoroughly adjust the shoes and drums.
Wheel bearings: Examine the wheel bearings for wear, looseness, or damage. If necessary, lubricate the wheel bearings.

Annual Maintenance:
Post 6 months of maintenance the next big maintenance for commercial car trailers is annual maintenance. Every year, you must inspect the following parts. They are as follows:

Jack and drop-Leg: Thoroughly inspect the jack and drop leg.
Welds in structures: Inspect and repair any welds as needed.
Wheel Bearings: Inspect, repair, and replace the wheel bearings as needed. If submerged in water, replace immediately.
Wheel rims: Check for cracks and dents. A replacement is needed.
Inspection of brake wire: Inspect the brake wiring. For damaged parts, replacement is required.

When you have completed all of these maintenance procedures for your vehicle trailer, you will notice a change in the trailer's quality. People who have completed all maintenance schedules can operate with the same automobile trailer 4, 5, or 6 for an extended period of time without having to pay a mechanic. Alternatively, you might spend more money on repairs.
