How To Plan Training Exercise Cycle Workout For Your Gym

by Ryan Harris Fitness Advisor

It goes without saying that your fitness facility will have a few exercise bikes. Stationary cycle workouts are one of the simplest ways to gain cardio training benefits. Regular indoor biking can also help in losing weight and building your stamina. While most fitness business owners are aware of the ways to efficiently train on the equipment, the same cannot be said about their customers. Guiding your facility’s members in efficient biking will help them meet their fitness goals. This, in turn, will help in enhancing your center’s reputation and boost the business.

Below are a few tips that will help you plan efficient stationary bike training sessions.

1. Listen To Your Customers

Do you know why your customers are using the bike? Is losing weight their goal or do they want to build their endurance? Knowing the objective will help you plan a customized workout program for your customers. You must also assess the amount of strain their body can withstand. People with weak knees or backs might be unable to cope with high-intensity training. Similarly, a beginner will require a light-intensity plan as compared to a seasoned gym goer.

2. Help The Members Select The Right Bike

Once you have identified the kind of training load your customers can withstand, you must guide them in choosing the right cycle. There are 3 main types of exercise bikes, the upright bike, the recumbent cycle, and the spin bike. Depending on users’ physical condition and fitness objectives, you must help them select a suitable bike. For instance, recumbent bikes will be perfect for people who have back or joint issues and need low-impact workouts.

3. Ensure Customers Maintain The Right Posture

The right posture is an important aspect of training exercise cycle workouts. Make sure that the seat of the bike is level with the top of the hips of a user. When the user reaches the bottom of a pedal motion, their knees must have a slight bend. Always adjust the handles, pedals, and seat to align with a user’s height and reach. Maintaining the correct posture will prevent any undue stress on a user’s body and help avoid injuries.

4. Start The Workout With A Warm-up Session

Make sure that customers start training with a warm-up routine. The easiest way is to do some light pedaling for 5 minutes. You can also ask them to stretch and flex their limbs to loosen their joints and muscles. Jumping straight away into high-impact training without adequate warming up increases the risk of injuries.

5. Gradually Increase The Resistance And Pace

Many people try to train like pros from day one. This is the shortest and surest way to injuries. Let your members know that patience is a virtue in training. Ask them to gradually increase the pace and resistance of pedaling. Do not let them over-exert themselves and ask them to stretch their comfort levels slowly over some time.

In A Nutshell

Your job does not end with tailoring a workout routine for your members. It is also important to assess whether the exercise cycle sessions are generating the right results or not. You must monitor key metrics like a user’s weight to gauge the effectiveness of the training program. Moreover, you must also choose high-quality exercise cycles to execute the plan perfectly. Utilize the ideas shared in this article to plan customized indoor biking for your customers and enhance the reputation of your business.
