How to paint with diamonds
Painting with diamonds is similar to painting by point, except that instead of using paint, you are using small backs and flat rhinestones, crystals or diamonds. You can buy a diamond painting kit online or at some well-stocked craft stores. The process can be intimidating, but in reality it is quite simple. Once you know what to do, the project will be relaxing and rewarding. Here is 5dartist.com, the best option for 5d diamond painting. To know more follow 5dartst review.
Prepare the canvas
Buy a diamond painting kit. You can find them online, although some craft stores may also have it. Each brand will be a little different, but most kits will contain the following: a pre-printed canvas, flat-bottom diamonds, a tray, a pen-like tool and a gel or wax pack.
Understand how to read the canvas. The canvas is made up of tiny boxes that are colored and labeled with numbers, much like a cross stitch canvas. Each number corresponds to a diamond color. The numbers are written in a table, with the corresponding bag and the color of the diamond written below or to the side. The graphic is normally printed on the side of the canvas.
Unwind the canvas and stick it on a flat surface. If the canvas is not flat, roll it to the other side and then unroll it again. Spread it on a flat surface, then secure the edges with adhesive tape.
Peel off the back of the plastic cover on the canvas. Do not peel off all the plastic; 1 to 2 inches (2.5 to 5 cm) will suffice. Pass the nail along the plastic so that it does not roll forward.
Pour the first color of glass into the tray. Take a look at the part of the canvas you just exhibited. Choose a box to start and write the number on it. Find the number in the table and then find the bag with the same number. Open the bag and pour some of the crystals on the tray that comes with the kit.
Apply diamonds
Dip the pen tool in the gel or wax that comes with the kit. Open the gel pack that comes with your kit. Dip the narrow end of the pen into the gel or wax to collect a little. This makes it possible for the pen to collect the crystals.
Use the pen to pick up a crystal. Gently press the tip of the pen against the upper face of the glass. Lift the pen from the tray; The glass must be attached to it.
Gently press the glass against the corresponding square. Remove the pen; The glass must be glued to the canvas. If you're just getting started, it's a good idea to press lightly at the beginning. In this way, if the glass is displaced, you can put it back in its place and then press it to secure it.
Fill in the rest of the boxes in that section. Use one color at a time and fill the pen with gel as needed. When you finish filling in all the boxes with the same numerical code, go to the next color. This will help you work faster and stay organized.
Take off more of the plastic cover and fill more squares. Continue filling the canvas with the same technique as before. It works in sections 1 to 2 inches (2.5 to 5 cm) wide, one color at a time. When you complete one section completely, move on to the next.
Finish your work
Cover the canvas with the plastic sheet with which it comes. If you discard the sheet, you can cover it with a piece of paper or parchment; Avoid using waxed paper.
Pass a roller on the canvas. This will press the loose diamonds and set them better. If you don't have a roller, you can use a can or a jar instead. You can also gently rub the canvas with your hands.
Place some heavy books on the canvas overnight. This will help to adhere more diamonds to the canvas and make sure they bond properly. If you don't have books large enough to cover the canvas, you can use another flat and heavy object, such as a box or a cutting board.
Remove the adhesive tape. First remove the books and then the plastic cover. Peel the tape from the corners of the canvas. Do not trim excess canvas, as this can cause the fabric to be damaged.
