How to Make Your Marmaris Holidays Memorable

by Amanda Sutcliffe Travel Deals

A port city located along the shoreline of the Turkish Riviera, Marmaris is home to several marinas and is an excellent destination for diving and sailing. It was a sleepy little fishing village until the late-20th century. After its potential for tourism became apparent, the construction boom began in the 1980s. Today, this Turkish city is visited by plenty of tourists annually, who come from different corners of the globe to enjoy a pleasant holiday. During your time spent in this part of Turkey, you’ll get the chance to witness some fascinating attractions and indulge in exciting outdoor activities.

The best time to enjoy your cheap holidays to Marmaris is during the autumn months of September and October when the weather is relatively pleasant and there are not many tourists around. From June to August, the city experiences its summer with 12 hours of sunshine and temperatures that can rise up to 40-Degree Celsius, especially in July and August. So if you wish to spend your day under the bright sun, this would be an ideal time for holidaying in Marmaris. However, you must stay indoors between 12:00 and 3:00 in the afternoon when the heat becomes unbearable. Spring is another excellent time to visit the city, as the climate is pleasant and favourable for outdoor activities.

One of the best attractions to explore during your Marmaris holidays is the Marmaris castle. It has an amazing architecture and is set amidst pleasing landscapes. It is also home to the Marmaris Museum, which houses an excellent collection of artefacts belonging to the Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine eras. The Marmaris Dolphin Park is also worth visiting for watching the wonderful dolphins in action. During your time spent in this dolphin park, you’ll also get the opportunity to swim with the dolphins.

You can make your cheap Marmaris holidays memorable with a full-day cruise from the city to the coastal village of Dalyan. It gives you the opportunity to have a swim in the clear waters of Adakoy peninsula and relax under the sun on Iztuzu Beach. Horseback riding is another exciting activity you can enjoy while holidaying in this Turkish city. It takes you through the mountain river and pine forests, giving you the chance to savour some majestic views on the way. An off-road jeep tour would take you on an adventurous journey through the rugged mountain trails and secluded bays. You can sit back and enjoy the drive, as the vehicle is driven by a local guide.

While wandering the streets of the city, you’ll get to taste its delicious varieties of street food, which is relished by locals and tourists alike. Among them is the renowned Kebab, which can either be eaten in its original form or with fresh bread. A pancake called Gozleme is yet another delectable treat, as it is freshly cooked with some savoury fillings. There’s one particular dish that’s usually eaten for breakfast. It is called Gevrek and appears like a giant, ring-shaped bread. You can enjoy it in the mornings with a cup of coffee.
