How to Make the Factory LCD work on Eonon GA5151F Android Car DVD Player?
The short answer is mostly. The long answer is on the
'04-'05 models the LCD will not work at all without modification. On the
'06-'09 models the LCD will still show climate control info and light up The
GA5151F Android Car DVD Player has a
CAN Bus module so it will show information on the screen. But what it shows
just depends on your car. The time/trip computer on the far left will not be
available though. And theoretically, 2005 & 2004 Mazda 3 does not have CAN
BUS system, the little LED cannot display. But one of our customer has a
special way to light up the LED, please follow his steps to make it.
You will see two threads on Mazday 3 forums:
"04~05 MAZDA3 Change 06~09 LCD for trip computer" and "EONON
GA5151W install into 2005 SP23". These two threads were wrote by our fans
seanlin08 and Lokiel. Just as Lokiel said: My real pride and joy is my 2004
Mazda MSM and the SP23 is my DD since apparently nobody can see MX5's in rush
hour and I had way too many near misses.
I recently purchased and installed an EONON GA5151W
Android Car GPS and reversing camera
into my 2005 SP23 hatchback so thought I'd share my installation since much of
this information is spread all over the internet and some of it I had to figure
out myself. Big thanks to seanlin8.
SWAPPING LCD to 2006/2007 UNIT (only relevant to
2004/2005 Mazda 3s): According to everything I'd researched, I needed to
replace the LCD with one from a 2006/2007 since the 2004/2005 Mazda 3 LCDs are
different. If you don't do the changeover, all that gets displayed on the LCD
is the A/C information. By default, the 2004/2005 LCDs don't have a trip
computer (I now know that they do, it's available if you press the OEM Head
Unit's FM1/2 and CD key simultaneously for a few seconds - but I digress).
I purchased a 2006 LCD with pigtail attached and
proceeded to modify its pigtail to mate it to the factory Head Unit harness as
per the following pinouts: OEM Head Unit Harness wires stripped.
There are 7 wires that need to be connected between
the LCD pigtail and the OEM Head Unit harness. I had some 4-wire and 3-wire
pigtail connectors so I used one of each to connect the LCD pigtail and Head
Unit harness. LCD pigtail mod installed (unfortunately I didn't take a photo
while the pigtail was out showing the joins)
There's some info on the web that mentions you need to
connect the EONON Car DVD Players SW1/KEY1
wire to one of its grey wires for 2004/2005 cars to allow the steering wheel
controls to be used - I DIDN'T DO THAT and my steering wheel controls work.
Regarding the camera's red Reversing Trigger
Cable/Wire: I tried the camera without connecting the red wire and it worked so
I didn't have to worry about it. I couldn't find this written anywhere and
wasted a lot of time researching this (should have just tried it first). Btw,
if you have 2010-2013 Mazda 3, then please choose our GA5163F Mazda 3 Navigation, it will fit your
car like a glove. :)
