Whenever a potential customer comes in to take a look at your car that you have been intending to sell, they make up their minds in the initial few seconds of seeing it. So you can safely say that the first impression is actually the last impression when it comes to selling your car. And since the decision is based upon the first impression, you need your vehicle to have ‘curb appeal’.

What is ‘curb appeal’, you ask? Curb appeal is something that helps make the buyer take a positive decision to buy your car. Here’s how you can maintain your vehicle and increase its curb appeal.

Wash your car

Wash your car at least once a month to make it appear well maintained, twice if you travel a lot. Go to a coin operated car wash and use the foaming brush to rub off the dirt that may have accumulated over time. Also, use a spot free rinse, so that there are no drying marks after you take your car home. You can also use a spray detailer to give extra gloss and shine to your car.

Vacuum the interior

Vacuuming the interior is an easy and budget sensitive way of making a great impression when a potential buyer opens the door. Make sure that you vacuum both the front and the rear seats, and get the hidden spots and cup holders to give your car a thorough cleanse. Moreover, clean the junk in the trunk as well.

Wipe down the interior

Use a damp cloth or rag with a car cleaning product that not only improves the look of your interior, but also helps in eliminating the odor. However, don’t go too heavy on the air conditioner because it will just overwhelm the buyer and will make it obvious that you are trying too hard, which can make a potential buyer suspicious.

Clean the engine

Most current cars have a plastic covering to shield the engine which gathers grease, and road dirt and ends up looking pretty grimy. Use a good quality spray detailer or any surface cleaner to get rid of the layer of dirt effectively. This is also a good time for you to check on the coolant levels and oil.
