Clean air is one of the most important amenities among the amenities crucial for a human being’s survival. Maintaining the atmospheric concentration of different gases, reducing the addition of sulphurgases to the atmosphere, reducing the carbon dioxide present in the atmosphere and trying to keep the ozone layer intact, all these are the things many environment friendly institutions are working on.

All they believe is that clean air is everyone right. Although, Industrialization put us on a path of air destruction, it’s still not late to save the atmosphere. At least, we can save ourselves from the polluted air using the machines we have developed today.

These machines are called Air Purifier or Air Cleaner. As the name suggests, they clean the air surrounding them of the particles contaminating it.

Techniques Of Purification

There are a lot of people who claim to have mastered such a device. This is the bad that we breathe, there are only some techniques which are good for us as well as the atmosphere. They are:

The TSS technology: It heats the core of the machine to around 200 degrees Celsius. The air which passes it gets purified from germs, viruses and pollen. It doesn’t have any by-products.

The UV radiation: In this system, air needs to be forced through the machine. It passes through a UV lamp which purifies the air. It is best used with an atmosphere which is controlled.

A Simple Filter: It is a system which catches most of the large sized particles like the dust.

Ionizers: This fancy thing, charge the atmosphere up in a manner which leads to the production of trace amounts of ozone. This gas works as a purifying agent in the house.

Generators: These machines generate ozone at a high rate. They are used for industrial atmosphere purification.

The titanium dioxide coating is mixed with paint. It absorbs the acidic gases.

All these techniques have proved useful for purification. It is very costly to install and then have it regularly maintained. It’s better to do it yourself.

Maintenance of an Air Purifier

A regular household air cleaner is low power. So it’s better not to overburden it. So you should vacuum the area near the purifier clear of the dust.

The filters in the purifier aren’t permanent. They need regular replacement. Usually user manuals or a display panel indicate when this has to happen. But, generally, HEPA-type filters need changing in 12 months and all other types of filters need changing every 5-6 months. This may vary with the type of area you live in.

Regular washing of pre-filters is necessary. Hot water is preferable for the same. You must not reinsert the pre-filters until they dry down.

Place the purifier in an air which has access to the air around it without obstruction.
