How to look smart during the meetings
Like most of us, my top priority is to look smart during the meetings. This can be sometimes difficult if you start day dreaming about your next vocation. When this happens, you need to fall back on the old and the tested formula. Some of the tips for looking smart during the interviews are as follows
Draw a Venn diagram
Getting up and drawing a Venn diagram is a great way to look smart. It does not matter if the diagram is inaccurate as the more inaccurate the better it is.
Translate the percentage metrics into fractions.
If the general notion is that 25 % of the users click this button, then the reaction is why one out of 4. Everyone will nod in agreement and will be more than impressed with your mathematical skills.
Take a step back
There reaches a situation in a meeting, where everyone is chipping in accepting you. Milestones and opinions are thrown around you and one does not know how to react as well. There is a great way to say things as “Guys can be taking a step backward.” Then you need to follow it up with a quick “On what problem are we trying to solve” So you have brought yourself another way of looking smart.
Continuously take notes
Always carry a notepad with you. Take note of every sentence you hear during the course of the conversations. If someone asks you on whether you are taking notes always say that they are your personal notes
Will it scale?
It is important to understand if things will scale no matter what you are discussing. No one really knows what it means, but it is a good natured question that brings the best out of you.
Step out of a phone call
If during the course of the meeting, you excuse yourself and venture out on personal call, your importance will be highlighted all the more. The general reaction is that this meeting is important, so if someone else is more important than this, then we will not disturb him.
Perhaps the most important thing which you cannot ignore for a split second during the course of the meetings is proper attire. They may make or break your deals in case of formal meetings. One should have their own collection, which should vary according to the season. By this, in no way does it mean that you should be on a shopping spree, but your collection should be updated with each season. Say for example men’s winter jackets will be a nice collection to your wardrobe as the creative designs keep on evolving new trends year after year
So, all the best for creating an impression!
