QuickBooks is one of the most widely used accounting software for the diverse purposes of tracking expenses, making sales receipts, preparation of reports, tracking of sales tax and inventory management. The software has a variety of features, one of which is QuickBooks Import.

Using this option, the user can directly import an Excel worksheet instead of copying and pasting the data from there, which minimizes the time of the job to only two to three minutes. To carry out the task, you can either contact QuickBooks online customer service or try the same on own, using some simple steps.

• Save the Excel file/spreadsheet in XLS or XLSX format.

• Open the data file in QuickBooks.

• Make data backup so that important data is not lost in case the import does not work properly. Try to make it a practice every time you work on the data.

• Now click the QuickBooks ‘File’ menu, followed by selecting ‘Utilities’ and then ‘Import’ and finally ‘Excel Files’.

• Select the XLS file. Next select the drop down menu ‘Choose a sheet in this Excel workbook’ and choose the option of ‘Accounts’.

• Click the button of ‘Mappings’, then type a mapping name, for instance, ‘Map QB Headers to XLS Columns’. Then click ‘Import Type’, followed by selecting ‘Account’. From beneath Import Data column heading, choose the blank row to see all columns of the Excel file.

• Click on names so that you can choose the fields where you wish data to be imported. You will see a pull-down menu beside each name under the column of ‘Import Data’. Now, choose the designation of Excel column where the data is located in Excel. Next click ‘Save’ and you will be back to the window ‘Import a File’.

• Next go to the “Preferences” tab and then pick the applicable options to your import. Use ‘Preview’ option to make sure that the Excel columns have been mapped to QuickBooks correctly.

• Finally, click on ‘Import’ to close the process smoothly.

In case, these steps do not help you to complete the task, it would be a good idea to seek professional guidance by calling QuickBooks customer service number. However, this number may not always be reachable and this is when you can avail one of the alternative numbers listed on the reliable online directories such as Contactforhelp.
