If you have a large lawn, you can grow them there but it would also be quite appealing to have some of those wonderful flowers indoors to place your plants in pots since these types are more versatile and easier to handle if you want your flowers indoors.

Caring for flowers in pots may be somehow different to how it is in growing flowers in a garden. In this context, you would have to deal with each and every pot individually, make sure they get what they need to get and that they all grow. While that may be so, the basics of taking care of potted plants are very easy.

Just like what you would do to a garden of flowers, you would also have to water, fertilize, and groom your plants every once in a while; depending on the need. This may be more complicated when dealing with flowers in a garden but if you look at it, all flowers just have the same basic needs which are sunlight, water, and oxygen.

Container Basics

Since this may be quite different if you are used to growing flowers in garden, you might ask what kind of pots should be used or what type of soil is ideal for this. Generally, larger pots are much better. This is because a larger pot provides more growth space for the plant’s roots plus it is more capable of giving moisture to a flower. This is one advantage of growing flowers in pots than in a garden of flowers.

You can use ordinary soil, as long as you make sure that it can support the plant’s growth. To be safe, you can use commercially available soil that is specifically designed for potted flowers. Some of these mixtures are not actually sand, but some kind of fertilizer that would be better for you flowers’ health.

How To Choose The Right Flowers

In choosing what kind of flowers to keep, be aware of the light condition. If you can place your flowers in a lighted area, choose the ones that can handle it or if you should place your plants in a shaded area, choose flowers that can survive in that condition.

If you live in an area with four seasons, it is best to get flowers that last year-long rather than seasonal flowers.

Flowers For The Right Season

To give your house a very colorful atmosphere, have your plants share a theme or if you wish, you can have them share only one color such as all reds, all whites, or any color you prefer. If you want that, you would have to plan planting those well.

Just like having a garden of flowers, in having flowers in pots, there is what we call formal and informal look. The formal look would appear very uniform while the informal look mixes and matches different heights and colors creatively. Depending on what you want to have, you can go with whatever look you prefer.
