How to get from Amsterdam Airport to the center

Amsterdam is one of the most visited cities in Europe. Its canals, parks, beautiful buildings, museums and, of course, its coffee shops and the great nightlife attract millions of tourists every year. To accept size influx of visitors, has Schiphol Airport, the fourth largest in Europe.

Train

As it usually happens in the cities where the train arrives at the airport, this option is the most comfortable and fastest. It will only take between 15 and 2 minutes to get to Amsterdam's central train station, located in the very center of the city. The main train operator in the country is Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) and you can make the trip with them.

From the airport you will depart from the station that is located right under the terminal and you do not have to worry about the arrival time of your flight as there are trains 24 hours a day. As for the frequency of service, there are several trains every hour between 6 am and 12 am. If you need to travel between 12 a.m. and 6 a.m., you will find one train per hour.

Bus

Another cheap option to get to the center of Amsterdam from the Schiphol airport is the bus.

Schiphol has a large number of bus connections to Amsterdam. During the day, lines 197 and 370 (Interliner) will take you to Leidseplein, in the center of the city, Ouz Zuid. The frequency of the service is one every fifteen minutes. If you arrive at the airport with nocturnality and treachery, you have the option of taking buses 97 and 358 (Niteliner) to the same destinations. Night buses operate between 00.30 and 05.00.

Car rental

If you are going to spend a few days in the Netherlands, visiting Amsterdam and other cities of interest, such as Rotterdam, it may be better to rent a car at the Amsterdam airport.

If you are in a hurry or simply prefer to be taken from the airport right to the door of your accommodation, you can always hire a taxi.

In Schiphol you can choose between sharing a transport with other people who go in the same direction or using a private one for you and your group. You notice that the service is quite expensive and you will end up paying between €40 and €50.

Another option is to take one of the many taxis that leave from the official airport stop, located at the exit of the arrivals terminal.
