The COVID 19 pandemic has affected every possible sector across the world. Right from the stock market to the medium and small scale industries in the villages, every enterprise has taken a beating. This reduced demand, supply and also significantly increased the unemployment rate in the country. Many multinational companies have laid their employees in all spheres. This made the competition for jobs in every sector very tight.   1. Up skill yourself: The freshly graduated student needs o upskill himself and learn various other competencies. The fresher might not have relevant experience but his skill in various important aspects is quite an asset. Since everything has gone online the job seeker is advised to take up various online classes and gain knowledge on issues that are most relevant. The individual is advised to keep a track of all the trending areas of importance that the companies and industries are looking for in these troubled times.

Aggressive networking needs to do: The fresher who is looking for a during the COVID 19 pandemic needs to network aggressively so that every employer in that particular field needs to take note of his or her resume. The individual needs to send resumes and ask his or her family and friends to refer him to a particular job. Here the skills acquired by the job seeker make a huge difference. They speak volumes about their calibre when there is no relevant experience.

  3. Take up freelancing: Since a fresher has no experience taking up a freelance job in the relevant field helps abundantly. Since the work done through freelancing can also be included as experience it gives the individual a better edge over the rest of the job seekers. Freelancing also helps in learning about the industry he or she wants to get into and also a few tricks of the trade. It makes the person more employable.

  4. Take up Internships: Internships unlike freelancing helps in exploring new avenues of career prospects. Since change is the only constant thing the job seeker is advised to explore new areas of interests by taking small internships. There is a number of organisations that provide online internships. These mostly cater to the new graduating students and the ones still in college. Any person can take up an internship based on his or her area of interest and work o it. This helps in building and developing new skills which might help in fetching a permanent job.   5. Practice Mock Interviews: The pandemic has resulted in laying off a lot of employers hence the number of people of applying a single job has multiplied exponentially. The individual needs to have a better edge over the rest of the lot especially in the interview round. To master this exercise one needs to practice mock interviews online. Many companies and online portals have started providing mock interviews and helping the job seeker gain more confidence while attending an interview. Many students have great knowledge in the respective domains but lack confidence and composure which are extremely important to crack an interview and get them a job. This is where mock interviews help especially the fresher students.

  6. Be Open to Change in the field: The pandemic has hit most of the employment generating industries and sectors very badly. This left the job seekers during the COVID 19 pandemic with very limited options. Hence the individual is advised to be open to any kind of job opportunity. In many cases the employer finds a skill in the employee and wants to hire him or her for that particular skill, then the students need to be open to such offers to get into a job quickly. This gives the opportunity to explore new pathways of careers which might be more promising and rewarding than the one individual is seeking.

The ability to stay open to learning a skill is far more rewarding than having skill as many employers look for the quality of ability to learn in their staff.
