Here’s how to fix the device is not ready on Windows 7, 8 and 10

  • Run the Check Disk Scan
  1. Click on the Windows and S keys together.
  2. Enter “command prompt” in the prompt box.
  3. You need to right-click on the app.
  4. Choose the Run as administrator option.
  5. After going in the command prompt, go through the command mentioned below:
  6. You can also adjust the drive letter as per your wish.
  7. The disk letter will be “G.”
  8. After that, let the procedure to finish successfully.
  9. It will take a few minutes to get complete.
  10. After fixing the driver, you need to start the system and try to access it once again. 
  • Change the Drive Letter
  1. Click on the Windows and R keys together.
  2. Enter “diskmgmt.msc” in the prompt box.
  3. Click on the Enter option.
  4. After going in the disk management menu, you need to right-click on the drive.
  5. Choose the Change Drive Letter and Paths option.
  6. Press on the Change option.
  7. Choose the other drive letter to change.
  8. Once you have changed the drive letter, unpair the external drive.
  9. Once you have paired it, go through the issue to see whether it is fixed or not.
