How to Find Travel-Agents and Tour operator in Delhi, India

by Rubi Ahsan Associate S.E.O Consultant

Welcome to the Travel-Agents-in-Delhi

What should you look for in a travel consultant or agents? “You absolutely want to make sure the agent has some sort of accreditation,” says  ‘Gaurav Chawla, the Councilor for Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India (ADTOI), of Travel Agents (ASTA) is a good sign; the Association of Retail Travel Agents (ARTA) is smaller but also reputable. Good agents may earn certification in specific fields, too—for example, Delhi vacations, destination weddings, or polygamy travel—from the Travel Institute; if you see the initials CTC, for certified travel counselor, that’s reassuring. Affiliation with a big name in the industry—such as American Express or Virtuoso—is likewise a promising sign.

Here are some tips that made my life easier:

Tip # 1. In India do as the Indians do

Even when I would feel affection for to change many things about women situation in India, for once, I decided to follow the crowd. India is one of the most complex countries on the face of the Earth (probably the most complex one), so pretend to appreciate its culture in a short time is naively utopian, to say the least (if not stupid) and to change it... no way. For admiration and for your own safety, behave as they do: cover yourself, be respectful at temples, and avoid walking alone at night. There will be opportunities to share your opinion with other people and help to make a change in smarter ways than swimming against a current of 1.2 billion people.

Tip # 2. Travel at least in 3rd class

Overall, India is very, very shameful, so it really worth paying a little bit more and travels in 3AC or 2AC in case of trains, where families often travel with you and you will experience safer (some of them will even share their food with you).

 Tip # 3. Defend yourself

As long as you are in a communal place with enough people around you (which is not doubtful to happen in the second most packed country worldwide), just orally defend yourself if you don’t like something. In India, what people may think of you is super significant, it’s a society powerfully based on the family and on the opinion of others, so if a man does something that bothers you, just say it very load. He knows he is doing wrong and he may even LITERALLY run away from you.

Tip # 4. Guys may touch your breast with their elbows. Watch out!

In fact, it was not until I sat losing to write this that I confirmed it, in the meantime I was reviewing some other articles from solo female travelers in India to be sure to add as much as I could. At that time, I had doubts because it seemed such a bizarre way to touch me that I didn’t know how to react. But some of them may touch you in that way. Watch out!

Tip # 5. Finding a Good Travel Agent

Needless to say, I'm sold that a good travel agent can do some things no search engine will ever do. (I'll still use on-line booking sites, nonetheless, for speed and convenience, but will call my new travel agent much more frequently.)

Tip # 6. What Makes a Good Travel Agent?

Full disclosure: I'm in the market for a holiday trip to a popular destination (Indian destination) for a friend's wedding. I figured I'd combine business and pleasure, and turn this article into a quest for reasonably priced airfare.

As a result, I had three agendas:

1) To find a "Good Travel Agent." What is this elusive creature?

2) To understanding this creature's purported magic first-hand.

3) To (somehow!) find a great airfare in a sold out market.

A Monday evening calls to some local travel agents went thusly:

Having an initial talk with a potential agent is key. Ask how often he travels and which places he’s liked and hasn’t. Has the agent been to the destination she’s suggesting for you? You’re more likely to mesh with a professional who prefers boutique hotels over grand resorts if you do, or who feels the same way you do about cruises—who, in other words, sees the world as you do.
