by Gonzal Vish Gonzales Iron Works

Finding balcony rails in one’s building is very common. But do you know a lot of effort is taken in creating a single balcony rail??

We find balcony rails in our houses, in office buildings, in churches, in restaurants, in hotels, in palaces and many other places. Many of us actually want to have a specifically designed balcony rail in our houses to give our houses that dream look.

Do you know that a lot of techniques and know how are involved in designing a this type of balcony? There are mainly three types of balcony rails that we find in our daily lives. First, true types are structures with real space to relax in. They have wide deck and rails. These are places which can also be used for nice furnishings or interior decorations and can be used by the family to sit together or play an indoor game.

Second are false balcony having narrow rail and deck and do not have the luxury of large spaces. But they do have places for gardening. They are also used as a support system for those who want to lean on the railing and have a view of the outdoors. The third ones are the faux balcony which do not have a deck floor; they generally cover the doors or windows and are used for both decorative and safety purposes.

The materials used in construction of balcony rails depend on the usage and the budget for constructing them. For instance, balcony made out iron or cast iron, steel, glass, cardboards and other lighter materials are cost effective and they can easily be shifted from one place to another. They can be easily installed, uninstalled and reinstalled. The costlier ones include those made of concrete and cement with decorations and embellishments. These are the rigid or the fixed balcony rails and they are non detachable. They stay fixed at the place and the angle at which they are constructed. When you need to get them moved, you have to deconstruct them and then rebuild again.

In the ancient palaces and monuments, we can find beautiful stone carvings on the pillars and balustrade of this balcony; they are to provide the aesthetic touch to these valuable creations.

These types of balconies are used in museums where certain antique items are put on display; putting these items behind the rails make these places inaccessible for the visitors and thus act as a protective shield for these valuables.

Thus, the above discussion makes it clear that balcony rails have become an integral part of the construction business in today’s time and people make a conscious decision in getting them built.
