How to Explore Some Popular Places with Bangkok Holidays

by Amanda Sutcliffe Travel Deals

The capital of Thailand, Bangkok attracts numerous tourists from different parts of the world with its fantastic mix of gleaming Buddhist temples and towering high-rises. You'll be surprised by the efforts that the city has taken to preserve its rich cultural heritage over the years. It has come a long way from being a small trading post during the 15th century to a modern metropolis in recent times. Tourists who visit the Thai capital also find the vibrant streets and a thrilling nightlife of the city truly exciting. Besides being one of the popular tourist destinations of Thailand, Bangkok is also the country's important financial and business centre.

You can enjoy cheap holidays to Bangkok if you visit during the low tourist season between May and October. Rains are frequent in this period and the hotels in the city come up with some truly attractive deals on accommodations. Despite the rains, you can have lots of fun visiting the city's shopping malls and entertainment venues. From March to May, Bangkok experiences its hottest climate with sudden rains. The best time to be in the Thai capital is during the period between December and February. Being the peak tourist season, you'll have to book your hotel stays or holiday packages several months in advance if you plan to visit the city during this time of the year.

While enjoying your Bangkok holidays, you can explore the popular attractions of the city. Among them is the Grand Palace, which is a massive complex that has served as a residence of the Thai royal family for several generations and is used for important events even today. Located close to the palace is a Buddhist temple popular as the 'Temple of the Reclining Buddha'. It is also called Wat Chetuphon or Wat Pho. This temple was built during the reign of King Rama I and features a large Buddha statue in a reclining position. You'll be delighted to visit Lumpini Park, as it would allow you to escape the bustling crowds and heavy traffic of the city.

During your cheap holidays to Bangkok, you'll get the chance to indulge in some thrilling activities outdoors. One of them is a cruise through the Chao Phraya River, which allows you to witness some magnificent temples and ruins. Another exciting experience would be to head to the venues where the professional Muay Thai events are organised and watch the Thai kick-boxers in action. The early morning tour of the Suan Supatra Land gives you the opportunity to taste some Thai tropical fruits.

A holiday in the Thai capital would also give you the chance to enjoy the mouth-watering Thai dishes. One of them is a spicy soup prepared using fresh prawns, called Tom Yum Goong. Other ingredients that are added to this soup include lemongrass, fish sauce, lime leaves, and chilli. The Thai fried rice or Khao Pad is another delectable treat you can savour while in the city. It is made using chicken, prawns, or crab along with egg, fried rice, onion and a few other vegetables or herbs.
