How to do Exercise Equipment Repair by yourself?
Exercise equipment’s are the most important tools of our exercise regimen. We need them to keep our body fit and healthy. But what to do when then get unfit? If you use a stationary bike as your exercise equipment and uses it regularly, chances is your belt or chain may get loosened or fall off. In case, your equipment of regular use is a treadmill, problem areas are the motors, belts and consoles. If you want to minimize the repairs for your equipment, keep it clean and lubricate it regularly.
If you are serious about repairing your exercise equipment by yourself, your necessary toolset includes screwdrivers, wrenches, multimeter, screws, bolts and the replacement parts which can be obtained from the manufacturer directly or through the suppliers. Check your internal batteries once every 6 months and replace them if necessary.
Stationary Bike
If the bicycle chain is too loose, you have to replace the chain. To do this, you have to remove the flywheel cover from your Exercise Equipment Service. To adjust a bike’s belt, set the tension knob of the flywheel to its lowest setting. Now you can unhook the adjustment clap for the belt and adjust it. When you are sure that you have the perfect tension, re-hook the clasp and return the flywheel tension knob to its previous setting. You can change the belt and chain as you would do in a normal bike.
Treadmill
If speed of your machine varies while you are running, get down and set the settings to recommended ones. If your belt is hitching, change the belt. If your belt is slipping, it may be due to excess tension or the belt may be too tight. To remove excess tension, lubricate the belt properly and if the belt is too tight, adjust the belt settings properly. Remove the power cord from the plug for 60 seconds to remove the static developed in the console. If your console is not showing readings properly, check its batteries and wires. If anything looks frayed or worn, replace them immediately. If there is trouble with your motor, you may to get professional help as your motor may need replacing. And if your belt gets heated, you need to lubricate the belt well as it is due to the tension or friction developed in it. If lubricating the belt doesn’t seem to help, you must consider replacing the belt.
