How to Develop a Business Reputation and How to Sustain it

by Purvi Dalvi Writer

Building a business reputation is no cakewalk because it takes time, effort and effective strategy implementation. But then all it takes to completely dismember it is a single tweet or a one-star rating from an aggrieved customer. The social media platform these days are an extremely power space where each and everyday business reputations are built stronger for some and completely destroyed for most others. This is because more than sixty per cent online buyers feel more prone to purchase their products after going through the list of positive as well as negative reviews. But those of you who feel at a loss when it comes to developing a business reputation and then maintaining it should take recourse to reputation management strategy.

Know to know what these are? Then read this article to find out:

Disciplined Monitoring:

In order to create a compelling brand image, you need to keep track of both the good and bad reviews in order to be able to improve on it. So track every time you get mentioned on different platforms, review portals as well as search listings. Try to analyze both the good and bad reviews and try to understand what is working for you and what is not being appreciated. If you find it overwhelming to keep track of all these areas yourself manually then enable Google and Bing alerts to send across notifications whenever you are mentioned. You do not have to take recourse to a reputation firm for this but use monitoring tools such as Technorati.

Build a Band of Loyalists:

When it comes to business there will always be a bit of mudslinging. With every ten negative reviews, there will be one positive review. Take notice of the good, appreciate it and make efforts to acknowledge. This way you will be able to build a band of loyalists who will champion your cause no matter what. Over time you can also request your loyal followers to help endorse your business and brand.

Offer Informed Facts:

Whenever you sense that a possible dispute is underway as a result of any press report or a negative review, ensure that your side of the story gets to the public first. Provide accurate facts and prevent your reputation from suffering because of misinterpretation, miscommunication and misrepresentation.

No matter what your reputation management strategy looks like never be in denial about negativities or the reviews that come against your business. Acknowledge the mistakes or wrongs with a sincere apology and try to make significant efforts to improve upon it henceforth.
