How To Decide The Right Grout Color

by Sarah B. Marketing Writer | Thinker | Environmentalist

Grouting is an important leg of any tile project. Filling grout into the space and joints between tiles on tiled surface adds to its strength and durability.

If you are working with any type of tiles, such as stone, ceramic, porcelain, glass, metal, etc., grouting is something you cannot avoid. You have to grout your tiles, there are no excuses to that. Otherwise it will be a poor-quality installation.

Grout is available in pre-mixed or powdered form in white and gray colors. However, homeowners and tile installers add coloring agents into the grout mixture to match it with the color of tiles.

In some designs, we see grout is a different color. Sometimes different color grout steals the show from your expensive tiles and sometimes, it enhances the look of your space.

So, the question that arises here is, how to decide the right grout color for my tile project. In this article, we talk about some of the killer color combinations which you can consider going with –

White Grout with White Tile –

This is an all-time hit combination. If you want to create an all white, brilliantly white, peace and an inviting appeal in your home, then this is the combination you should go with.

Variation: You can use white grout with light color tiles (such as – the tiles in beige and cream shades).Similarly, you can use beige and cream color grout with white tiles too. These variations don’t look odd. Rather, they create a cozy and chic feel.

Gray Grout with White Tile –

You could also use gray – variation of black/blue and white – with your white or cream color tiles. It also helps render an elegant outlook in your indoors and outdoors.

If you want to highlight the shape and design of tiles, then also, this is the grout color you should go for.

White Grout with Black Tile –

The opposites distract – that’s a universal fact. But in interior design principles, using black and whites combination can give a truly amazing visual appeal to your space.

You can use white or light grout with dark and black tiles to gives your installation a brilliant contrast.

With color tiles, it is advisable to use white or matching color grout. But, again, the color of grout should be chosen on the basis of a number of factors that include your project type, the color of tiles, and your design idea.
