How to deal with test day nerves
Feeling
nervous about your driving test today? You’re not alone. We reached out to Driving school
in Bhavasnagar students via Facebook and Twitter, to hear their stories
about dealing with test-day stress and nerves. They mentioned a few vital
points which surely can help you keep the nervous blues away.
Prepare
well in advance – Try taking lots of mock tests and
make sure you’re continuously passing them before you even consider applying to
for a final practical test. Focus on those aspects especially where you have
been struggling so you can nail them in good time. The night before your test
make sure all the documents you need to show at your test are ready and in
place to show the concerned authorities. Keep the photo card and paper
counterpart ready.
Be
acquainted with your test centre – Visit and explore more about the
protocol of the test centre.
Don’t go
ga –ga about your driving test to your friends –
The more people you tell about your test, the more pressure you’ll feel to pass
as the anxiety level increases.
Instructor
from Driving school in C V Raman Nagar suggests learners to have a banana for
breakfast – Bananas are well-known among instructors and
is considered as a super food as they are full of B vitamins and helps calm
your nerves which will keep your mood upbeat. If you don’t like bananas make
sure you eat something so you have enough energy for the day to allow you to
concentrate on the task in hand rather than how hungry you are!
Avoid
caffeine – Do not drink energy drinks or too much
coffee before a test. The caffeine can heighten your nerves.
Distract
yourself – Arriving for your turn to give the test can
make you anxious sitting in the waiting room before your test. It’s a good idea
to bring a book or magazine to distract you.
Breathe
easy – Breathing exercises can be very useful to
help calm you down. Inhaling in and exhaling out will have a soothing effect on
you and stop your heart from racing
Talk
to the examiner – remember that the
examiner is human and not there to fail you, he is there to help you score and
build your confidence.. Exchange a couple of words with him/her to put yourself
at ease but don’t talk too much.
Open the window – Allow fresh air
in the car, this can help you concentrate well and keep you alert.
Slow
down – When people are nervous they have the
tendency to speed so imagine you’re on a normal lesson, breathe and focus.
Remember,
these are just a few viable suggestions given by students from driving school in
Gokula. Drivekool instructors
will give you a vote of confidence provided you are capable!
Have
confidence in yourself and good luck!
