In the last few years, there is a huge increment in the number of people accessing social media. Other than being a platform of social interaction, these sites have opened new doors for marketers to promote & generate sales from these sites. 

But as per the saying “Success of a product or a service needs an effective plan”

So either you are promoting or selling product physically on shops or virtually on sites, it must have a foolproof marketing strategy & when millions of marketers who are selling their products or services on social sites than to have unique visibility you desperately need a sound & effective social media marketing strategy

Therefore here we are going to discuss 6 steps if taken would make your social media marketing strategy more effective & foolproof:-

1.    To have a good strategy you need thorough study:- here study doesn’t mean about just studying the competition for your product segment on different sites but it includes analyzing & auditing of your position before the launch of the campaign. You also need to identify which different social sites are more preferable for your offering & how you are going to position your offering on them each.

2.    Know about your potential customers:- there is a saying that if you are selling a comb & your marketing strategy leads you to the bald person then it is worthless to have such a strategy. So to eliminate this error of wasting your precious money, time & efforts on wrong customers it is essential that you must understand your potential customer by figuring out their demographics, behavior & interest as this will make your message reach to your targeted customer.

3.    Make a clear understanding of your needed metrics:- many social media campaigns turn great failures at last as they have put limited or none effort to know about the social media metrics. If you are just focusing on brand promotion then your posts should be designed to accelerate the number of shares & comments but if your campaign is based on driving sales then your posts must be focused on website clicks & signups etc.

4.    Have different strategies for different social media sites:- the most unexpected mistake that marketers make while applying their strategy is that they just have one single approach for all social sites. But in reality, it is a big blunder performed. Each site i.e Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest & Instagram have different audiences visiting them & show different behavior while surfing them so you can’t have a single strategy for each of them. For example, on Instagram, your focus should be on increase Instagram followers but for Twitter, it should about increasing the number of retweets.

5.    Respond to each positive engagement:- most of the time when someone comments positively on your Facebook post or shares your image on Instagram, you just take it as the success of your campaign & forgot about the person who had responded. This is an opportunity to engage further with your audience but marketers ignore it as unworthy but if you give a complimentary reply in the form of free purchase coupons or anything then it will help you in retaining an audience for a longer time & confirm engagement on your next posts.
